2012 Minor league staffs

Here is my partial guess at the rotations and closers for the minor leagues thsi spring

3A Gwinnett - rotation: Teheran, Delgado, Flande, Lugo, and Hoover/Vizcaino alternating as starters. Bullock, Pruneda in the bullpen.
2A 'sippi - Spruill, Hale, D.Delgado, Masters
A+ Hillcats - Gilmartin, Perez, Avilan, Martin . Lamm in the Bullpen
A- Rome - Graham, Gil, LaPoint, Filak. N. Moore as the closer.
Rookie Disney - Cabrera, Espinosa, Caicedo

Does anybody have opinions on how close this may be?>

so you’re thinking one trip through the rotation it will be Hoover and the next time around Vizzy will start? And this to become a common trend?

It will be Redmond or Cordier… Or both since Huddy won’t be ready

A guess

Vizzo starts 10 games , then goes to the closers role, pushing Bullock from closer to long relief, Pruneda stays in the 8th inning setup role.

Hoovy :) starts the season as a long reliever, gets some work as a started in the mid-third, then goes back to the pen.

this way they both get in the innings and a variety of roles.

A bummer about Huddy

Do you know if everyone else is ready 1-Jurrgens 2-Hansen 3- Beachy 4-Minor 5-Medlin

Are you thinking Redmond/Cordier may also figure into the Majorleague rotation….bullpen…. or remain 3A fodder.

JJ Minor and Beachy are all ready to my knowledge
Meds is healthy but I’m not so sure he’ll be starting in any case other then immediate emergency
Hanson should be a go but I guess is still a worry

Put it this way… I hope Redmond and Cordier don’t see time in the ML rotation. Nothing against them really, we just have a lot of better arms. I would assume the DC would start with our 5 ML’ers obviously, then JT and Delgado. If the injuries even required us to go deeper I then think Meds gets the nod, as well as Hoover, over Redmond and Cordier. I think they have decided Vizzy will stay in the pen but I could be wrong. Gilmartin may fast tracked and depending on how he responds, may see some time late in the year.

Also, you have Luis Avilan in Lynchburgh. He spent the entire 2011 in AA, getting 13 starts. While it wasn’t the most successful season I don’t think he’ll go back to A+

Sean Gilmartin will be an interesting question

He had limited time last year as a pro, but finished strong, and has a Spring invitation in his pocket so he can watch the big boys prepare. I think he might be fast-tracked — he’ll be 22 in May, and is a Lefty. He might start at MIssissippi.

yep

I imagine that Gilmartin will start at Mississippi.

it will be interesting

- a part I think that is less obvious is that the Barves have certain pitching coaches at each level that are good at teaching specific things. Not sure what those things are, but I understand that sometimes makes a difference in the spring assignment and promotion schedule – not just the stats and age.

I would like to see us give up on Rasmus as a pitcher and move him to LF.

Many scouts debated he should have been put there when he was drafted because he could hit and had no secondary pitch to go with his fastball.

Luis Avilan had a very good year in AA. Why would he end up in High A?

I wrote a novel, it's about baseball, you should buy it:

Kowalek pointed that out also. A sloppy error on my part. I replace him with Northcraft. I may be overly optimistic over Cody Martin chances of being a started and of going to A+. I could have replaced him with Ryan Weber, although his status of a starter is unclear to me.
