Bravos Fan in Need
During the month of July I will be in Austria for a month abroad History program.. I will have access to my computer, maybe an Ipad. Does anyone know of a way I can watch the Braves play live on the computer? I assume there probably is a way but I am kinda stressed out that I will be lying in bed at 5 am all of July updating my sportacular app trying to imagine what in happening against the phillies.
Please.. any advice would be helpful

Austria eh? Sounds fun. Are you looking for something of the free variety? Because there are several sports streaming sites that pop up now and again, but most get shut down by the government. Not sure how it would work overseas, though. Krash lived in England for a while, and I am fairly certain that he didn’t get to watch there. Have you tried mlb.tv?

actually
certain countries won’t let you stream mlb.tv.com and Austria could be one.

Can’t you just change your IP address?

yes..
there are paid services (maybe free ones, too) that allow you to have have a proxy IP address from another country. There are plenty of people in the US or that use it for streaming the BBC/Sky website content for their EPL fixes. A

This is a free list of IP proxies (some in the U.S., mostly not though). Use at your discretion (many are slow, and a few do not connect at all). One COULD (hypothetically, of course) use such a proxy to avoid MLB.tv’s blackout rules here in the U.S. by selecting an IP address based in a part of the country where the blackout is not in effect.

Disclaimer: I am not recommending this.
Outside of the USA various international websites have been known to stream various sports, usually soccer but not limited to that. The US government is trying to actively shut down as many as they can when they stream US based sports, but if MLB is too stupid to take your money, a sad fan with no alternative might be tempted to look into this.
Then again, you could just learn to live without seeing the Braves for a month. It might do wonders for you and help put things in prospective (hint – no matter how much we fans care, we can do NOTHING to make the Braves better or worse).
Haha..
but don’t you sometimes feel like when you keep the game on in the eighth, down by a half dozen, we have a chance… And when you turn it off it’s like your calling the game over.
But I know I will survive without watching for a month it would be nice though to be able to watch a couple games in July because we all know it’s going to be a tight race.

I did a little looking and it seems that as long as your Austrian ISP does NOT use IP addresses assigned to American or Canadian network registrars that you should not have any problems to use mlb.tv. If it uses Canadian registered IP addresses (I don’t know why it would) you are screwed (mlb.tv appears to not be available in Canada). If it uses US registered addresses (again, not sure why it would) you MAY be subject to blackout rules. It does appear that you may have ways to assert that you are not physically in the USA or Canada to MLB and avoid any blackout problems. So it looks good for you to use mlb.tv if you wish.

Having heard of "Rocky Mountain Oysters"
I shudder to think of what “Austrian Alps Shrimp” would be made from.

I used mlb.tv when I lived in London
It worked just fine for me. Definitely check out the fine print though; it should tell you all the country-by-country limitations.
I'll be in Mexico until June
so I’ll be buying Mlb.tv, but I buy it anyways because I live in Seattle. Grew up in Atlanta, so the Braves will always be #1
Have you considered a Slingbox or a Vulkano? I have a Vulkano and LOVE it! Also useful on the go since both have android and iphone apps. Vulkano IMO has far better picture quality and is less expensive.
Actually I have no idea what Vulkano is..
do you think it would be a better option then mlb.tv? because ill only be gone a month or so and it seems a little pricey for the limited use i would be getting if i purchased that package.

After reading the title of this post
I fully expected it to be a plea for some sort of transplant surgery.
You can buy Mlbtv by the month it just cost a little more per month than if you buy the whole package.
Senator, we have another old saying,"Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining." Fletcher
buddy do you have a PC or a Mac
im not just gonna blatantly tell you how to watch illegally. i watch from mlbtv but if you cant access that from austria… all i’ll say is look into streamtorrent, myp2p.eu
not gonna say anymore than that. and macs arent compatible with streamtorrent or at least i dont think so.
Mac
but I will look into it and see If I can download some kind of driver to make it compatible with my computer. thanks
