Kim Klement-US PRESSWIRE
Longtime Atlanta Braves left fielder Matt Diaz has signed with the New York Yankees.
According to the Twitter feed of (now) former Atlanta Braves outfielder Matt Diaz, he has signed a contract with the Yankees:
I'm very excited and thankful to be goin to camp with the Yankees! This little boys dream come true!!!!
— Matthew Diaz (@diazfoundation) December 26, 2012
The deal is a minor league deal with an invite to spring training. Diaz could earn $1.2 million if he makes the club out of spring training.
While Diaz wasn't the most consistent hitter, he was an interesting player to watch, though I wouldn't recommend watching him if you wanted to learn a good batting stance. At times he seemed to defy logic with his unorthodox hitting style.
