I don't post here too often anymore, but I wanted to comment on the most recent tragedy this year involving an athlete, the suicide of Ryan Freel. First, obviously this is just awful and my thoughts and prayers are with his family, especially his wife and three daughters. Second, the main reason I wanted to post this was to encourage anyone who is reading this and who might be feeling depressed, discouraged, what have you, to please, please seek help. I know what it feels like to feel hopeless and so depressed you don't actually want to get out of it...just try to realize that this is all part of the disease and that you CAN get better. And, more than anything, you deserve to get better. I hope this wasn't an inappropriate fanshot, but I just wanted anyone reading this who might be depressed to understand that you are not alone. There is too much stigma against depression and other mental illness in the world today, and recent events have only made it clearer than ever that these issues cannot be buried any longer. Happy holidays, everyone. And go braves!
