With Hamilton inking a deal for 5 years and $125 million, as one pundit said, "there's too many Angels in the outfield". The front office said before that Mark Trumbo is not going to be moved and I am inclined to believe them. Right handed power is limited now. I also like his positional versatility being able to play all 4 corners. Vernon Wells and his $21 million per year isn't going anywhere except the bench. WORST. CONTRACT. EVER. Hambino and Trout are a given which leaves Peter Bourjos. Gold Glove D, excellent speed, and a potential lead off hitter if he is able to take more walks. So what will it take to get him?
Reports are saying they want to upgrade their rotation and the Braves can offer that. Where the Hanson trade looked more like a salary dump plus a power righty bullpen arm, this would be something that would impact the team more. I would propose a trade like this
Atlanta - Peter Bourjos, Kole Calhoun
Los Angeles - Mike Minor, Nick Ahmed, Aaron Northcraft
Minor is a lot to give up but they want a MLB ready starter and I would rather give up him than Meds or Beachy. Hudson is retiring a Brave so he's out of the question. Ahmed would address the lack of quality SS in the Los Angeles system and Northcraft as more of a lottery ticket. Calhoun I see as a 4th/5th OF with most of the time spent in AAA for 2013 and joining the big club once Reed Johnson's contract runs out.
Who hangs up first?
