Can't understand this...
Seems like the Braves are completely inundated with stupid rumors this day. Of course it seems that we are going to trade Jurrjens and possibly Prado, but I found this to be insane.
The Pirates expressed interest at one point, sources say, and a rival executive speculated that the Braves could pursue Burnett if they trade right-hander Jair Jurrjens. ... Burnett, however, is guaranteed $16.5 million in each of the next two seasons, and teams are asking the Yankees to pay most or all of his remaining salary, sources say.

This came from FoxSports.com via SI.com. Seems like the good people at Fox haven't been paying attention to the Braves (as usual) in that we are trying to shed salary this coming year, not add a ton, even if the Yankees pay most of the salary. Besides this, why in the world would we replace Jurrjens with a pitcher that is A) obviously over the hill, B) exactly the same pitcher that we just paid another club $10m to take off our hands, and C) is 10 years older than the pitcher we would get rid of? This doesn't even get into the conversation as to why we would want to block our young, more talented pitchers for two years with an overbloated contract, not to mention eat up a lot of salary that we could use to resign some key free agents next year.
Perhaps when Frank Wren makes a move, we'll see some of these inane rumors begin to die down. One can only wish.

I suppose you can't keep FOX/ESPN/Yankees from wishing
I looks like they are trying to wish something into reality…
All while Fredi is surrounded by a bunch of orangutans, trying to teach them how to bunt the rocks and coconuts that angry 300 lb gorillas are throwing at them,

It says “a rival executive speculated that the Braves COULD…”
He’s right. We could. We wouldn’t, but we could.
Is Omar Minaya still considered a rival executive? This sounds like a move he would have made – if Burnett’s last name was Sanchez or Rodriguez…

I say this again
No one has any idea what the Braves are capable of. Everything is complete and utter speculation. To say that Atlanta has no money to spend and won’t go after Burnett may be true. It may also be false. No one knows.
We have people going nuts over Wren making no moves.
But it is really bothering the sports writers.
The Pirates are not going to trade Andrew McCutchen - please stop suggesting this.
