Quick Payroll Update
Ladies and Gentlemen, your Atlanta Braves!
Chipper: 14 million
Uggla: 13.2 million
McCann: 11.667 million
Hudson: 9 million
Diaz: 2.125 million
Ross: 1.625 million
Hinske: 1.5 million
Wilson: 1 million
Prado: 4.75 million
Jurrjens: 5.5
O’Flaherty: 2.5
Bourn: 6.85
*Lowe: 10 million
Total: 83.717 million for 12 guys
Signing 13 more at an average of 500k (thx, Bronn for reminding me about the Major League minimum increase) brings the total to approx. 90.5 million.
There should still be some money available. If there really is a payroll increase from last year's 94 million (after trades and partial salaries to both Diaz and Bourn), then there should be at least 4 million to spend. I expect the Braves to try and low-ball an offer to Cody Ross to finish the offseason. We still have no backup CF.

Hmmm, doesn't seem quite right
McCann should be $11.5MM as far as I know-I pulled that number direct from DOB who said that McCann had maxed out his incentives. If he’s maxed out, it should be any extra.
What’s the $0.2 you’re adding to Uggla’s base? Are you assuming his signing bonus is distributed each season?
Pretty sure it’s $2MM for Matt Diaz, not $2.125. And I feel pretty confident that Chipper is making $13MM, not $14.
Additionally, rookie salary minimum is $480K, and guys like Heyward and Hanson can be expected to earn more like $550K.
Braves will be fine. I'm not worried.

There was also an unknown amount of cash sent over with Diaz.
If we can land [Stephen Drew], I will give FW a bj.

Yeah, and I wasn’t sure (like on McLouth’s buyout) whether that counts in 2011 or 2012. I guess if we get it within $2-3mill, we’re doing pretty good.

I know the buyout counts for this year

Chopmaster: my link is my dad who has watched the braves since I don’t know. he’s 56.
you are correct

b-r.com says he earned 7 mil from us last year, so I will trust that.

Chipper is indeed $13m, but I show his signing bonus being distributed over the contract at $1m annually (payable on Jan 1). Confirm: Diaz is $2m.

Clearing some things up…
1. The Diaz contract was for 2/4.25 million, which would be 1/2.125
http://www.rotoworld.com/player/mlb/3723/matt-diaz
2. Chipper’s bonus is distributed over the contract making his salary this year 14 million.
3. According to DOB, the $ sent from the Pirates last year was “very insignificant”.
4. FW is a stickler about buyouts being factored into that year’s payroll. McLouth’s is factored in to ’12’s.
5. Rookie increases took place this year. so Bronn was correct above. Edited.
Just Beachy here. How 'bout you?
hmmm.. we have some conflicting info on Matt Diaz… though the difference is insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

Which leaves two questions, for me
The $167K extra you’re showing to McCann, and the $200K extra you’re showing to Uggla. Signing bonuses that were distributed on the books for each year?
Braves will be fine. I'm not worried.

I could have sworn McLouth’s buyout was factored into LAST years payroll..

don't forget that with all those contracts there have to be incentive clauses somewhere.
also they keep a few million loose for mid season trades. the same thing happened last year. it looked like in the beginning that the payroll was lowered but by the end it was higher than the previous.
This is not exact.
There’s not a whole lot of money available. There might be some, but it’s negligible. I’m pretty confident that we don’t have $5 million just waiting to be spent.
This is my corn. You people are guests in my corn.
even if we do
i have a feeling the team will hold onto it just in case they need to make a deadline deal

Braves have 4 million to spend according to Terry McGuirk. Numbers stated above were correct. The Braves are sitting at approx. 90 million.
