Atlanta Braves closer Craig Kimbrel has been voted the August recipient of the Gillette presents National League Rookie of the Month Award, second baseman Dan Uggla has been voted the Budweiser Presents National League Player of the Month, and Talking Chop has been voted the Jack Daniels presents the Lazy Journalist Award for August. Seriously though, Kimbrel and Uggla did a good job in August, but we really earned lazy. My feet are propped up right now while typing this ... MOM, THE MEATLOAF!
Earlier today Danny told you how awesome both Uggy and Craigy have been (link here). Kimbrel becomes the 10th NL Rookie to win the award twice in a season, and the Braves become the first team in the NL to win the award for three straight months (Freddie Freeman won it last month, Kimbrel the month before).
Uggla compiled almost half of his 32-game hitting streak during the month of August, while also leading the NL with 10 home runs and 33 hits.
Good work by both guys, and let's hope they keep it up through September and into October.
