Pastornicky Called Up!
ajcbraves
#Braves have called up top shortstop prospect Tyler Pastornicky, will be here for Wednesday's game. Made move after Gonzalez calf injury.
I'm sure he is not likely to get the start, but something had to be done as there is no backup SS.
At this point though I wouldn't mind seeing him get in there. He can't do any worse that some of the other guys we've been trotting out there. I was hoping they would have called him up sooner, but the the September swoon kind of killed any chance to do this until it became a necessity.

This is purely in case...
…Wilson gets hurt and we need someone to play SS. The odds of him getting into the game are very small.
I don’t doubt you’re right about what will happen, but I wouldn’t mind seeing what a guy who hit .365/.407/.413 in AAA could do to help a severely struggling Braves offense score enough runs to play beyond today.
I’d be very concerned about putting a guy making his ML debut at a key defensive position, in the biggest game of the year, knowing that if we win it’s likely to be a tight, low-scoring game where every run is crucial.
How about...
we’re up 14-0 in the 8th and we let him PH in the pitcher’s spot? I like that plan.

You just don't get it ...
AGon is an experienced MLB shortstop who is regarded as one of the best defensive shortstops in the league. The shortstop position is a premium position and is a defensive priority first and foremost – if you get some upside offense with it – great !! You don’t replace a veteran such as AGon with a rookie such as Pastornicky in the middle or end of a pennant/wc race. Although AGon has had a down year offensively, he still is a valuable asset with his defense.

THIS THIS AND MORE THIS!!!!!!!!
I absolutely do not believe Pastornicky is a major league SS, because his defense is more likely to stick at 2B than SS.

A little bit late....
I don’t believe Pastornicky should have gotten any significant playing time this month, but I would have liked to see him on the roster. The experience of taking infield with A-Gon and Wilson (two strong defensive SS) could have furthered his progression.
