Batting Prado 2nd is so fucking stupid. If we lose again, that's probably why.
He delivers lower in the order. What about this does Fredi not understand?
Like it matters…. Fredi has no clue what to do with guys on base, anyway.

He’s said multiple times that he wants to preach aggressiveness and hasn’t adjusted that attitude the entire season despite the results it’s obviously generating?
Even if he hadn’t done so it would be his job to try to correct it… but it’s worse than that, because he’s still in love with it.

Even the pitch he got Ramos on was in the zone and up… He’s really not pitching very well. See if he settles down.
You'd think I was Travis Tritt struttin my FINE ASS on down to Florida
I really don't think he's pitching poorly
The pitch that Gomes hit was a good pitch. The pitch that Desmond hit on the first pitch of the game looked pretty solid too. I think he’s not getting as generous a strikezone as he’d like.
The worst pitch he’s made so far was the line-drive that Wilson just caught.

Definitely last among play-off teams, and with weakened pitching it seems reasonable to be concerned about a generally punch-less offense. I wouldn’t call it the worse ever, but with the talent on this club we are really underachieving, not to mention how many missed opportunities we’ve had.

you cannot expect the Cubs and Astros to clinch the WC for you. YOU’RE GOING TO HAVE TO IMPACT THIS YOURSELF. AND THAT MEANS SCORING WHEN THE BASES ARE LOADED WITH NO OUT. Sorry for the allcaps, but I don’t think they could hear me all the way from Minnesota without them.

"Refusing to leave the batter's box after strike 3"
by Larry Parrish
foreword by Terry Pendleton and Joe Morgan
"Jason Heyward was a Greek philosopher reincarnated as a baseball player." - Don Sutton
I bet the Joe Morgan part reads something like this: “What you want to do when you’re the batter, is to not get three strikes before the pitcher gets three strikes on you. You see, if you get three strikes you’re out. If you hit the ball before you get three strikes, you might not be out. If you might not be out, that’s better than being out. In baseball, you want to not make outs. You see, if you make three outs in an inning, the inning is over. If the inning is over, you can’t score anymore runs. And the team that scores more runs wins the game. You want to score more runs than the other team, so you can be the team that wins the game.”

Early in the season, when we had Hudson/JJ/Hanson/Beachy having great outings every time on the hill, we only needed 3 runs to win a game.
Now we need a few more and we can’t score that much because our offensive approach is terrible.

The weird thing is...
At the beginning of the season you would have thought this was going to be a better-than-league-average offense.

Last year it seemed that somebody would come to the plate with fire in his bat and he would not be denied. You could watch Ross or Heyward come up and you knew a double was coming to knock in a couple of runs. Prado and Infante would come up and you could just tell that they were going to spank it into the outfield. It was like an Angels in the Outfield effect, but it is completely gone now. I dunno if that was just succeeding more or some sort of intensity that translated into results, but whatever it is it is gone in 2011.
Sgt.: Pointed stick? Oh, oh, oh. We want to learn how to defend ourselves against pointed sticks, do we? Getting all high and mighty, eh? Fresh fruit not good enough for you eh? Well I'll tell you something my lad. When you're walking home tonight and some great homicidal maniac comes after you with a bunch of loganberries, don't come crying to me! Now, the passion fruit.
Or Melky or Nate would come in and GIDP. That happened too.

Yea, but there was a feeling that they were following a script, and in a lot of ways it was a beneficial one for the Braves. That is “even-keeled” in its own way, but there was still fire and intensity, that is absolutely gone this year. I think Fredi’s managing style has a whole lot to do with it.

I think you’re over-romanticizing last year a bit.
"Jason Heyward was a Greek philosopher reincarnated as a baseball player." - Don Sutton
I absolutely am. But I think the intensity difference is very much a factor. This team seems sedated more often than not, that was not really a problem in 2010, and now that combined with approach have been a couple of our worst problems.

Fun fact if the Cards hold on
That will make them 4-2 in their last 6 games. In each of those 4…they trailed going into the bottom of the 7th.

Well 1 game lead with 3 vs Phils while the redbirds play the horrible Astros at a hitters park. Recipe for success for one of the best offenses in the Cards

Maybe being at home will light a fire?
I imagine that most of the fan base is as tight as we are, but the fans in the ATL need to step up the next 3 nights. The team needs…SOMETHING…to light a fire under them. Being at home needing to beat the Phils SHOULD bring out the best in everybody. Guess we’ll see. What a terrible sports weekend…

Tickets for the final game are nearly sold out
But many tickets remain for Monday and Tuesday
Maybe, just a wishful maybe...
Our freefall started when for the first time this season, we got swept by the Phillies. Maybe, just a wishful MAYBE, we can return the favor and sweep the Phillies to right the ship in time. Well, I’m only hopeful but not optimistic with the odds.
