Batting Prado 2nd is so fucking stupid. If we lose again, that's probably why.

He delivers lower in the order. What about this does Fredi not understand?

Like it matters…. Fredi has no clue what to do with guys on base, anyway.

The pitch that Gomes hit was a good pitch. The pitch that Desmond hit on the first pitch of the game looked pretty solid too. I think he’s not getting as generous a strikezone as he’d like.

The worst pitch he’s made so far was the line-drive that Wilson just caught.

Definitely last among play-off teams, and with weakened pitching it seems reasonable to be concerned about a generally punch-less offense. I wouldn’t call it the worse ever, but with the talent on this club we are really underachieving, not to mention how many missed opportunities we’ve had.

I bet the Joe Morgan part reads something like this: “What you want to do when you’re the batter, is to not get three strikes before the pitcher gets three strikes on you. You see, if you get three strikes you’re out. If you hit the ball before you get three strikes, you might not be out. If you might not be out, that’s better than being out. In baseball, you want to not make outs. You see, if you make three outs in an inning, the inning is over. If the inning is over, you can’t score anymore runs. And the team that scores more runs wins the game. You want to score more runs than the other team, so you can be the team that wins the game.”

Last year it seemed that somebody would come to the plate with fire in his bat and he would not be denied. You could watch Ross or Heyward come up and you knew a double was coming to knock in a couple of runs. Prado and Infante would come up and you could just tell that they were going to spank it into the outfield. It was like an Angels in the Outfield effect, but it is completely gone now. I dunno if that was just succeeding more or some sort of intensity that translated into results, but whatever it is it is gone in 2011.

Yea, but there was a feeling that they were following a script, and in a lot of ways it was a beneficial one for the Braves. That is “even-keeled” in its own way, but there was still fire and intensity, that is absolutely gone this year. I think Fredi’s managing style has a whole lot to do with it.

I absolutely am. But I think the intensity difference is very much a factor. This team seems sedated more often than not, that was not really a problem in 2010, and now that combined with approach have been a couple of our worst problems.

welp....

at least there will be a 4 hit shutout against Lee tomorrow.. instead of the dreadful one hit shutout….

This is just sad

Sgt.: Pointed stick? Oh, oh, oh. We want to learn how to defend ourselves against pointed sticks, do we? Getting all high and mighty, eh? Fresh fruit not good enough for you eh? Well I'll tell you something my lad. When you're walking home tonight and some great homicidal maniac comes after you with a bunch of loganberries, don't come crying to me! Now, the passion fruit.

I can't imagine it's possible

to get any more angry or frustrated with this team. I’m sure they’ll find a way to prove me wrin though, the way they’ve been playing. Pathetic.

Here’s hoping the next three days they just.. break out and play awesome baseball.

Poor guy...

He played for the Pirates and the Mariners, and he probably thought he was finally going to get a shot with a winning team.

A positive to take away from this

If the Braves miss the playoffs those of us who have bought playoff tix will get our money back!

You should get double your money back as compensation for the heart-breaking disappointment.

Another positive, the young pitchers have pitched well for us down the stretch. Too bad this lineup is so limited in the ways it can score runs. Again, I blame Larry Parrish.

Panic Button Engaged

Phils have had a massive losing streak and will come into ATL trying to build momentum for the playoffs. This means we’ll see good pitching. We can’t even hit little league pitching right now. Such a good season to come down to a 1 game lead with 3 to play. It’s going to take us winning 2 games to avoid the 1 game playoff, and I really would like to sit Huddy on Wednesday so he could go Saturday.

Question: What do you get when there are 2 Braves on base with no one out?
Answer: Heartbreak

Top of the 9th coming up in St. Louis

CHC 2, STL 3

Cubs have Byrd, Soto, and the pitcher’s spot due up in the 9th.

Jason Motte coming in for the 9th. This is his 11th appearance in 17 games.

Fun fact if the Cards hold on

That will make them 4-2 in their last 6 games. In each of those 4…they trailed going into the bottom of the 7th.

Maybe being at home will light a fire?

I imagine that most of the fan base is as tight as we are, but the fans in the ATL need to step up the next 3 nights. The team needs…SOMETHING…to light a fire under them. Being at home needing to beat the Phils SHOULD bring out the best in everybody. Guess we’ll see. What a terrible sports weekend…

Maybe, just a wishful maybe...

Our freefall started when for the first time this season, we got swept by the Phillies. Maybe, just a wishful MAYBE, we can return the favor and sweep the Phillies to right the ship in time. Well, I’m only hopeful but not optimistic with the odds.
