Delay?
Any word on if this will start on time?
I'd expect some sort of delay
They’ve had the tarp on the field, and probably still do, but it should stop raining sometime after seven for at least good while. They’d still need time to prepare the field-call it 30 minutes to an hour, I’d say.
My buddy and I just decided that the braves would be set if we could get Matt Kemp, Jose Reyes, and Albert Pujols.
by willlinn on May 17, 2011 2:13 PM EDT
The tarp is off the field.
We might get this one in.

Injury updates for those who are behind
Moylan is done for the year, Hanson experienced some pain/soreness in this rehab start and won’t pitch Wednesday (given that, it’s doubtful he’d be available to start for the Division series).
So yeah, the hits keep on coming.
My buddy and I just decided that the braves would be set if we could get Matt Kemp, Jose Reyes, and Albert Pujols.
by willlinn on May 17, 2011 2:13 PM EDT
wait, what?
When did Moylan get hurt? I missed that.
Torn rotator/labrum. Apparently happened Tuesday
He’s going to Andrews for a second opinion
News is today
My buddy and I just decided that the braves would be set if we could get Matt Kemp, Jose Reyes, and Albert Pujols.

Moylan with a torn labrum and rotator cuff may be done
I mean, done done. Having just come off of a recent injury, this is the kind of thing to end a career.
My buddy and I just decided that the braves would be set if we could get Matt Kemp, Jose Reyes, and Albert Pujols.

Yeah. He’s done, done.
People will come Ray. The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again.
So...are we expected to start on time?

It’s rough to sit through these games and not have someone that can’t hit a Ball?
Strasburg has yet to have a rough outing.
I think we all know it’s about that time
None. Can't see him throwing more than 80 pitches though
Which is like 7 strong vs us
The Nationals really want to get above .500 to finish the season
I can see him going at least 6, maybe 7…..

I don’t think so. Last season was good enough to merit continuing on. This season should be dope…Mos Def!!

It’s rough to sit through these games and not have someone that can’t hit a Ball?
Hah. Everyone says that I should give season 5 a chance. I may watch the first few episodes one rainy winter Saturday and see if it turns into a marathon
You'd think I was Travis Tritt struttin my FINE ASS on down to Florida
That’s kinda how most seasons end up going, imo. Starts off a little slow as they do the introductions, but it picks up pretty quick once you get a few episodes in.
-C
It’s rough to sit through these games and not have someone that can’t hit a Ball?
I’ve found that’s my favorite way to watch a television show. I stayed up til 3 a.m. one night watching every episode of Game of Thrones for the first time.
Work really sucked the next day
You'd think I was Travis Tritt struttin my FINE ASS on down to Florida
That will continue to be a great strategy w/ Game of Thrones, especially if you haven’t read the books. Since there’s going to be so many more characters, it’s much easier to remember who is who when watching them consecutively rather than weekly.

I don’t know how I feel about not letting him pitch in the post season without getting a regular season start first. It makes sense, I suppose, but if he is healthy and can help us more than Lowe, I think he should. We’ll know more in two days though

When is he going to get time to prepare before he’s out there in the playoffs? I don’t know if he’ll have much of a chance to get in any work he needs to properly test himself.
I’m upset because this means Derek Lowe pitches in the postseason, even though Minor would be a much better choice.

Huddy is always the #1. If Jurrjens and Hanson were both healthy I think it would have gone Huddy, JJ, Tommy, and Beachy.

by thenightstallion on Sep 23, 2011 7:53 PM EDT up reply actions
If you want to get a little creative with it (not a terrible prospect considering these injuries) Minor has a very impressive GB% and HR% (destroyed by his last outing though) but if we want to get tendencies he could be a nice choice, and probably more palatable to most than Lowe, whose GB% tendency is also fairly strong.

Honestly, Does Fredi know what he's doing?
I hate to be ‘Mr. Hindsight’ here, but the guy comes in and throws 7 straight balls nowhere near the plate. He then throws one borderline strike at the knees and Fredi couldn’t help himself from putting on the Hit and Run. This is technically already playoff baseball and we can’t be screwing things up like that
I just wish he would do less in-game managing. I’m sure he means well and wants to generate more runs out of a below-average offense. But those things actually hurt the offense.
I’ve been very critical of him all season, but I actually do think he’s pretty good (compared to the average MLB manager) about pulling starters and bullpen management, with a few quibbles here and there. It is the in-game stuff that hurts: hit and runs, steals, bunts, and IBBs. Pinch hitting decisions are hit or miss, too.
By and large, all the player quotes suggest that they like Fredi. That’s great – not a lot of teams can say that. Combine that with less in-game managing and I think he’s an above-average MLB manager.
Atlanta scores another one. 4-1. Fuck life.

Apparently
It was beyond explanation because no one is explaining…
"You owe it to yourself to be successful. After that you'll owe it to the IRS."
Chipper grounder
Michael Bourn wandered off of second. Nationals pitcher tried to catch him in a run down, but on a throw back to third, the ball was dropped, so Bourn retreated to second. Chipper was kind already at second, so they tried to run down Chipper, who kept it going long enough for Bourn to scamper back to third, and then no one covered home plate, so Bourn just kept on going.

Cardinals have to feel devastated
after yesterdays loss to the Mets , and now the Cubs . Especially knowing they had the Braves so close , only to watch the Braves win against Strasburg and lose two straight in St. Louis .
All I need to complete a great weekend is 2 wins tomorrow and 2 wins Sunday!
Braves.
Falcons.
Gamecocks.
