Randall Delgado struck out 9 over six shutout innings in his AAA debut.

Randall Delgado was fantastic in his AAA debut, Tyler Pastornicky, Edison Sanchez, Antoan Richardson, Matt Lipka and a slew of others extended their hitting streaks, and Sean Gilmartin Made his professional debut.

Gwinnett Braves 4, Charlotte Knights 0

  • Matt Young CF 2-3, 2B, BB, SB (15), .270AVG
  • Tyler Pastornicky SS 1-3, RBI, .408 AVG
  • Mauro Gomez 1B 1-3, HR (19), RBI, .280 AVG
  • Randall Delgado 6 IP, 0 R, 3 H, 3 BB, 9 K, W (1), 0.00 ERA
  • Cory Gearrin 1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 1 K, 1.87 ERA
  • Jairo Asencio 2 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 3 K, 1.42 ERA

Randall Delgado had a fantastic AAA debut, striking out 9 over 6 shutout innings, easily picking up the win. Walks still plagued him, allowing 3, but they didn't hurt him a bit. Cory Gearrin had his 6th straight scoreless appearance since his demotion from Atlanta. Jairo Asencio took a loss in his last appearance, but over his last 10 games he has a 0.71 ERA, a 1.18 WHIP, 4 saves, and 16 strikeouts in 12.2 innings. Tyler Pastornicky extended his hitting streak to 11 games. Mauro Gomez broke out of a 1-15 slump, hitting his 19th homer of the season. Matt Young had a pair of doubles, a walk, and a stolen base, and in his last 8 games he's gone 11-32 with 5 doubles, 5 RBI, 7 walks, and 3 stolen bases.

Julio Teheran will face the Knights Sunday afternoon.

Mississippi Braves4, Carolina Mudcats 5

  • Antoan Richardson LF 2-5, .309 AVG
  • Myke Jones CF 1-3, BB, .232 AVG
  • Zeke Spruill 5 IP, 3 ER, 6 H, 1 BB, 4 K, 4.91 ERA

Zeke Spruill's second AA start was a lot like his first one, not bad, but not great either. He pitched one inning less, but he also gave up 4 fewer hits and struck out 2 more batters. Antoan Richardson had a pair of singles, extending his hitting streak to 8 games. The diminutive center fielder has gone 14-36 with 3 doubles, 3 walks, and 4 stolen bases during that span.

Luis Avilan is set to face Carolina tomorrow.

Lynchburg Hillcats 4, Wilmington Blue Rocks 7

  • Todd Cunningham CF 2-4, 2B, .280 AVG
  • Barrett Kleinknecht 2B 2-4, 2B, RBI, .227 AVG
  • Joey Terdoslavich 1B 1-2, 2B, RBI, BB, E (8), .284 AVG
  • Dimasther Delgado 4.2 IP, 4 R, 1 ER, 7 , 1 BB, 4 K, 4.00 ERA
  • Mark Lamm 2.1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 0 K, 3.60 ERA
  • Eliecer Cardenas 1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 2 K, 0.84 ERA

Joey Terdoslavich hit yet another double, his 44th of the year, and in his last 9 games he's hitting .484 with a ridiculous 1.534 OPS, 7 doubles, 3 homers, 13 RBI, and 6 walks. Todd Cunninham had a 2 hit day, including a double, and in 5 games since returning from the DL he's hit .368 with a .908 OPS. Christian Bethancourt had a rough day, going 0-4 with 3 strikeouts and 2 errors. In his last 8 games, the 19 year old Panamanian catcher is 3-30 with 10 strikeouts. His overall numbers with Lynchburg aren't much better, a .223 average and a .494 OPS. Errors led to Dimasther Delgado allowing 3 unearned runs and not being able to make it out of the 5th inning. Still, he's been a much better pitcher since the All-Star break, with a 2.67 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP in 30.1 innings after the break compared to a 4.80 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP in 50.2 innings before the break. Mark Lamm, the Braves' 6th round pick this year, is playing at a higher level than any other 2011 Braves draftee, and the 23 year old sidearming righty is holding his own, with a 3.60 ERA and a 0.80 WHIP in 10 innings for Lynchburg.

Blaine Sims will pitch tomorrow.

Rome Braves 5, Augusta Greenjackets 6

  • Matt Lipka SS 2-5, RBI, SB (20), .239 AVG
  • David Rohm RF 3-5, HR (5), RBI, .264 AVG
  • Chris Garcia 1B 2-3, 2B, 3 RBI, 2 BB, .316 AVG
  • Carlos Perez 5 IP, 2 ER, 2 H, 3 BB, 3 K, 4.73 ERA
  • Rob Roth 2 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 5 K, 1.32 ERA

Matt Lipka had a pair of singles, extending his hitting streak to 7 games. During the streak, he's gone 9-32 with a walk, which is a real indication of how his season has gone, because even during a moderate hitting streak, his numbers, a .281 average, a .303 OBP, and a .584 OPS, are still unimpressive. David Rohm hit his 5th homer of the year, and he's been on a roll, with a .425 average, a 1.089 OPS, 2 homers and 8 RBI in his last 10 games. Carlos Perez had a nice start, allowing 2 runs over 5 innings, and after putting up a 5.40 ERA and a 1.60 WHIP in 75 innings before the All-Star break, he's posted a 3.31 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP in 35.1 innings since the break. Rob Roth struck out 5, and the righty, who celebrated his 23rd birthday yesterday, has been phenomenal for Rome, with a 1.32 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP, and 19 strikeouts in 13.2 innings.

The R-Braves will send Willie Kempf to the mound tomorrow.

Danville Braves 3, Bristol White Sox 0

  • Brandon Drury 3B 1-4, RBI, .331 AVG
  • Edison Sanchez 1B 1-3, BB, .306 AVG
  • William Beckwith DH 2-4, 2 2B, .292 AVG
  • Kurt Fleming CF 1-2, BB, SB (7), .245 AVG
  • Lucas La Point 5 IP, 0 R, 4 H, 2 BB, 7 K, W (3), 1.98 ERA
  • Dan Winnie 2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 BB, 5 K, 2.40 ERA
  • Daniel Lopez 2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 2 K, SV (3), 0.00 ERA

Edison Sanchez extended his hitting streak to 9 games, and he's gone 14-38 with 2 doubles, a triple, 3 RBI, and 4 walks in that span. Kurt Fleming extended his own hitting streak to 6 games, and he's gone 9-24 during that streak. After going 0-9 in a pair of games, Brandon Dury has hit in each of his last 4, going 6-18 with a double, a homer, and 6 RBI in those games. William Beckwith had a pair of doubles, extending his hitting streak to 6 games, going 8-26 in that span, though he's also struck out 12 times in those games. Lucas La Point won his 3rd straight decision, all 3 coming in his last 4 starts. In those 4 starts, he has a 2.14 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP in 21 innings. Dan Winnie made his 4th straight scoreless appearance, striking out 12 over 9 innings in those games. Daniel Lopez picked up his 3rd save in 5 appearances since joining Danville, and the 24 year old Dominican has struck out 12 over 7 innings as a D-Brave.

Greg Ross is set to start for Danville on Sunday.

GCL Braves 6, GCL Yankees 14

  • Hector Garcia CF 2-4, .215 AVG
  • Felix Marte RF 1-3, 2B, 2 BB, OF Assist, .268 AVG
  • Nick Lobanov DH 2-4, 2 RBI, .292 AVG
  • Sean Gilmartin 2 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 0 BB, 1 K, 9.00 ERA
  • Kenshin Kawakami 1 IP, 4 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 0 K, 36.00 ERA
  • Jean Carlos Gil 4 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 4 K, 2.80 ERA

The Braves' first selection in the 2011 draft, lefty Sean Gilmartin, made his professional debut today, and it was a little rough, as he allowed 2 runs over 2 innings, though that's to be expected with the long layoff after his college season ended. Kenshin Kawakami also pitched, and did about what you'd expect him to do. In a day of poor pitching, Jean Carlos Gil was a real bright spot, tossing 4 shutout innings and striking out 7. For the year, the 20 year old Venezuelan righty has a 2.80 ERA, a 1.24 ERA, 2 BB/9, 10 K/9 and 5 K/BB in 45 innings. Hector Garcia collected a hit for the 4th straight game, going 5-13 in that span. In his last 10 games, Felix Marte is hitting .278 with a .921 OPS.

DSL Braves 3, DSL Tigers 1, Game 1

  • Jose Peraza SS 1-4, SB (25), .291 AVG
  • Emmanuel Daniel RF 1-2, RBI, .289 AVG
  • Gerald Ferrer 3 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 3 BB, 4 K, 4.76 ERA
  • Andry Ubiera 2 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 2 K, SV (1), 2.20 ERA

DSL Braves 5, DSL Tigers 4, Game 2

  • Joey Menses RF 1-2, 2 RBI, 2 BB, .194 AVG
  • Jesus Cambuston 3 IP, 1 ER, 1 H, 3 BB, 0 K, 4.43 ERA
  • Oriel L Caicedo 3 IP, 3 ER, 5 H, 1 BB, 2 K, 1.59 ERA

Jose Peraza singled in game 1, extending his hitting streak to 8 games, though he was 0-2 in the second game, ending the streak. During those 8 games, he was 13-32 with 2 doubles, 4 RBI, and 4 stolen bases. Oriel L Caicedo had a rough go in game 2, allowing 3 runs over 3 innings of work. He's only allowed 9 earned runs all year, and 5 of them have come in his last 3 appearances.

Last week I talked up Larrson...

..as he was enjoying a prolonged hot streak. He has since gone completely cold. I must learn to use my power for good. Only for good. I shall never mention him again.

My apologies Chase. I am truly powerful. Will I never learn? The awesome power of my praise. Fear it. Respect it. I would cut off my hands so I could not harm anyone ever again by typing, but I need them to scratch and stuff.

22 yr. old switchhitter Joey Terdoslavich needs to be promoted to Mississippi sometime soon. His mighty XBH power has made him a fast track candidate.

Yeah, I can’t figure out why he’s still in Lynch.
