Braves Acquire Matt Diaz
Guess this was the bench depth they were looking for. Still think an infielder would make sense, but welcome back Matt.

we wanted to get a right handed Eric Hinske for the bench
Matty Diaz can certainly fill that role….welcome back

Diaz is signed through next year (at ~2 million)

we are getting some cash from Pitt to cover it
Chopmaster: my link is my dad who has watched the braves since I don’t know. he’s 56.
the 2 million that Diaz is owed next year is still less than the 2.5 million that he got from the Braves via arbitration in 2010

YES
Today is my birthday (not one of the fun ones, unfortunately—the kind where the office staff obligatorily signs a card passed around). This, however, is a great present. My favorite player to cheer for is back. Thank you Frank Wren.
Good to have you back Matty
Seems like, since Infante is down, he is exactly what we needed to complete the team. We certainly don’t mind what he brings to the clubhouse either…

Infante is down?
what do you mean? He came back from injury pretty recently

I thought he was still injured w/ broken finger
He would have been the only better fit than Diaz: back-up infielder able to play every infield position and a right handed bat.
I certainly do not mind having Matty Diaz back though…what an awesome acquisition!

Replace Julio Lugo
and our bench will go from a weakness to a strength. I’m hoping for Infante, Renteria, or Theriot.
I would go for Infante or Carroll
though preferably Infante

Posted my happiness earlier in the Daily Clippings... just seeing this one.

Matty Diaz > Red Suit Man
I will never forget (click link for video) THIS AMAZING night when Matty took out the guy in the red ;-)
And, I KNEW there was a reason I couldn’t bring myself to deleting this graphic from last year.
Happy camper this morning with the news Captain Caveman has returned :-)

When I heard the news, you were my second thought after the obligatory “Yay!” because I know how much you love the Caveman.
Yay for everyone!

So glad one of my favorite Braves is back!
I missed this guy:
