Tomahawk Chops: Daily Atlanta Braves News Clippings For Monday, August 22nd
Your one-page daily morning overview of Atlanta Braves news:
Braves postgame quotes following Sunday’s win over Arizona | Atlanta Braves
Tim Hudson: "(Against Collmenter) You’ve got to go out there thinking runs are going to be at a premium. Luckily I was able to get a run right there, you just try to make it last. In the sixth inning, when I gave up the leadoff triple, it was the ballgame right there. A groundball to get one out. Flyball and throw them out at home was the key to the ballgame. It was a great play by Freddie. He’s been great all year. He’s been playing some Gold Glove first base. It’s another element of his game that could warrant rookie of the year."
McCann back behind the plate for Hudson | braves.com: News
"We were doing that because Rossy was catching well with him, but we're going to wean him out coming into the stretch run," Gonzalez said Saturday. "You want Mac to catch Huddy in the postseason."
Moylan to start rehab stint; Hanson close | braves.com: News
Braves reliever Peter Moylan is set to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday, while starting pitcher Tommy Hanson isn't far behind. Moylan -- who has been out this season after undergoing back surgery on May 17 -- will start Monday's game against Charlotte, where he'll throw one inning with a maximum of 25 pitches.
'Slow it down, boys' a new Braves rallying cry | braves.com: News
A new T-shirt is making the rounds through the Braves' clubhouse, and as usual, it's catcher David Ross at the center of it. The shirt, which the Braves have been wearing over the last several days, says "Slow it down, boys" on the front, with a picture of rock-and-roller Eddie Money on the back.
Who's faster, Bourn or Constanza? | ajc.com
Chipper Jones, for one, thinks Constanza might look faster but doesn’t think that necessarily means he is faster. "He’s just got shorter legs and his legs are moving faster and Mike’s got more of a long, loping stride," Jones said. "But that would be an interesting race."
Former Ashbrook High star has happy homecoming - Gaston Gazette
“Because I didn’t play a lot down in Florida, the plan is to play 10 games down here and then when September 1st gets here – if all goes well – for me to go to Atlanta,” said Helms, who had two hits in four at-bats in his Saturday debut for Gwinnett. “First of all, I need 10 games. It's convenient for both of us. Nothing special has to be done. “So I’ll play some games down here and the good thing about it is that I’ll be eligible for the playoff roster because I’ve signed with the team before September 1st. It’s just a good situation all around.”

The McCann catching Huddy thing is smart...
it is fine to let Ross catch him while they were hot because it was just a good way to give Heap a day off, and Rossy get some ab’s. But now, you need to get them ready to play together because it is doubtful Rossy will start in the playoffs much, if at all.
