The Braves scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the third inning, when Alex Gonzalez lined a home run into the left field stands off of Diamondbacks starter Josh Collmenter to make it 1-0.
Collmenter pitched well, finishing with a line of 7 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 4 K. However, Hudson was just a little bit better.
Freddie Freeman made an incredible defensive play in sixth inning. Kelly Johnson led off the inning with a triple, and was still there with Chris Young at the plate and one out. Young popped up into foul territory behind first base, and Freeman made a fantastic over the back catch.
After Freeman made the catch, Johnson made a break for home and Freeman fired a bullet to McCann at the plate to get Johnson and record a great double play.
Hudson left after the seventh inning for Atlanta, finishing with a line of 7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 7 K.
Atlanta survived a questionable decision by Fredi Gonzalez in the bottom of the eighth inning. Michael Bourn doubled and advanced to third on an error for Martin Prado. Prado unsuccessfully attempted to squeeze and left Bourn out to dry where he was out at the plate.
