I’m very impressed by Tommy La Stella’s .315/ .390/ .530/ .920 in the first 47 games of his professional career. He just has the look of a very advanced hitter; for example, striking out only 17 times in 168 ABs.
And the numbers of Brandon Drury (who is just turning 19 tomorrow, 8/21) are equally, if not even more eye-catching: .357/ .376/ .540/ .916 in 53 games.
It’s going to be fun screaming STELLAAAA in your best Marlon Brando impression to cheer for him if/when he makes the bigs.

We got Schafer back?
'There are two pains in life. There is the pain of discipline and the pain of disappointment. If you can handle the pain of discipline, then you'll never have to deal with the pain of disappointment,'- Nick Saban
If you want to point out a typographical error there are better ways to do it.
I wrote a novel, it's about baseball, you should buy it:

Actually I never heard of the other Shafer.

Shafer
I think it was a typo—He was referring to Aaron Shafer.
Happy to see Shafer show some indications that he will make a successful transition to AA—especially after he got hit hard at that level last year….

Drury
Hate to be a downer, but 1 of those BB’s was intentional. Hopefully, his approach will improve as he climbs the ladder though…
The Braves GCL team
is pretty fun to follow, mostly because I know nothing about any of them! lol Of course Danville and Rome take the cake on most exciting team, but The Braves GCL team is very intriguing to say the least.
Are there really any players that are relatively even considered prospects? Or were highly thought of coming into professional baseball?
To answer my own first question, I know it’s only the first “true” level of professional baseball, so labeling someone as a prospect is most likely not the smartest idea, since if they were highly thought of they would most likely be in Dan. or Rome, but just wondering if any of these players project well as prospects.
Sometimes I wake up grumpy; other times I let her sleep.
I don’t think that’s necessarily true at all. Some significant portion of the GCLers are only 18, have just graduated from HS or are equally young Latinos coming over stateside for the first time after being signing at 16 or 17 and playing in the Dominican League. They are still physically growing and emotionally maturing boys and it is a more protected environment for them. For example, last year, Drury was drafted at 17 and played not particularly well in the GCL, but now is raking in Danville. Another example: Salcedo was started at 18 last year in Rome, which might have been a significant mistake since he struggled badly, but is playing pretty well there this year at 19.
