Spruill's AA Debut, Streaks By Pastornicky, Larsson, And Peraza, and Espinosa's Dominance Highlight Monday's Atlanta Braves Minor League Action

Zeke Spruill made his AA debut, Tyler Pastornicky, Chase Larsson, and Jose Peraza extended hitting streaks, and Abraham Espinosa continued his dominance over the DSL.

Wilkin Ramirez had a great day, with 5 singles, 3 RBI, and 3 stolen bases, continuing a streak that's seen him go 10-18 with 6 RBI in his last 4 games. Tyler Pastornicky had yet another multi-hit game, extending his hitting streak to 7 games. In his last 2 games, Brandon Hicks is 6-9 with 4 RBI. Mike Minor had a great, start, fanning 8 over 6 innings while allowing 2 earned runs. Over his last 4 starts, the 23 year old lefty has a 2.88 ERA, a 1.32 WHIP, 1.8 BB/9, and 9.4 K/9. Since being demoted from Atlanta, Cory Gearrin has thrown 6.1 scoreless innings over 4 appearances, striking out 8.

Zeke Spruill's first AA start wasn't a great one, but it was solid enough to earn him a win, as he allowed 4 runs, 3 earned over 6 innings. He gave up too many hits, 10, but he didn't hurt himself by giving in to hitters, allowing just 1 walk. Myke Jones reached base 3 times, and while his .237 average is ugly, his .355 OBP isn't bad for a top of the order hitter. Over his last 6 games, Dan Nelson is 10-20, and in his last 3 games he's gone 7-9.

Chase Larsson doubled to lead off the top of the 11th, and then was driven in by and Edison Sanchez single to seal the victory for the D-Braves. Larsson continues to excel, extending his hitting streak to 6 games, going 11-26 with 3 doubles, 3 home runs, 11 RBI, and 3 walks in that span. Edison Sanchez extending his own hitting streak to 4 games, going 6-17 with 2 doubles, 2 RBI and 2 walks in that span. John Cornely struck out 6 over 3 scoreless innings to pick up his second win of the season, and he's been a K machine this year, averaging 15 strikeouts per 9 innings.

The D-Braves will send Greg Ross to the hill in the series finale.

Gil, a 20 year old Venezuelan righty, has given up too many hits this year, averaging 9.7 allowed per 9 innings, but he's keeping the walks down, with a 2.2 BB/9 rate, and the strikeouts up, with a 10.1 K/9 rate.

Jose Peraza extended his hitting streak to 6 games, going 11-24 with 2 doubles, 4 RBI, a walk, and 2 stolen bases in that span. Abraham Espinosa had a great start, allowing just 1 run over 5 innings. In his last 7 appearances, the 18 year old Panamanian has a 0.65 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP in 27.2 innings. Michael Flores secured his first save of the season by striking out 4 over 4 shutout innings. The 18 year old Dominican has a 10.6 K/9 rate this year.
