Braves Use The Long Ball To Beat Arizona 4-2

Atlanta utilized the long ball to beat Arizona 4-2 Friday night at Turner Field.

Michael Bourn got the scoring going in the bottom of the first inning as he led off with a home run to right field off of Diamondbacks starter Daniel Hudson

The Braves added to their lead in the bottom of the third inning as Jose Constanza walked with two outs to bring up Brian McCann. McCann crushed his 20th home run of the season into the right field seats for a two-run home run to make it a 3-0 game. 

Derek Lowe recorded no outs in the sixth inning, and left with a line of 5 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 7 K. 

Hudson allowed yet another home run in the sixth inning as Chipper Jones got into the action with an opposite field homer to up the lead to 4-0.

Hudson left after the sixth inning, finishing with a line of 6 IP, 7 H, 4 R (earned), 1 BB, and 5 K.

Justin Upton scored the Diamondbacks two runs in the top of the seventh with a two-run double to center that scored Sean Burroughs and Colin Cowgill and cut the lead to 4-2. Both of the runs were charged to Arodys Vizcaino

Jonny Venters threw seven pitches in a scoreless eighth inning and Craig Kimbrel recorded his 38th save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning.
