I just wanted to write a short bit concerning Arodys Vizcaino and his future in the pen.
So a few weeks ago Vizzy got moved to the bull pen to 1) cut down on innings and 2) prepare for a similar role in a September call up. Now I have no problem with this. But......... according to many that is where he will be when it's all said and done. That I don't like.
In Keith Law's Mid Season Top 50 prospect rankings he did the unthinkable. He ranked Vizcaino AHEAD of Teheran at #11 and #12 respectively. AHEAD I SAY!!!!!! DID I MENTION HE RANKED HIM AHEAD OF JULIO TEHERAN?!?!?!?!?!
Look they may be right. Maybe Vizzy is destined to be a closer because he hasn't quite developed a third pitch. I can accept that. But if that is true, I want to see two things happen. First of all keep him a starter in the minors. Secondly, trade him. Lets be honest, the Braves have a pretty damn good pen as it is. We don't really need another reliever. And by keeping him as a starter in the minors we can maximize his trade value and get a big return for him.
Just my thoughts. What do you think?
