Tim Hudson hosts Under the Lights: Making of a Braves Broadcast, tonight at 10:30pm on SportSouth
Tonight on SportSouth following the Braves-Phillies game, Fox will premier Under the Lights: Making of a Braves Broadcast. SportSouth turns the cameras around to give viewers an all-access look at what it takes to televise an Atlanta Braves game. The 30-minute special, which chronicles the Braves' 6-5 walk-off win over the Cardinals on May 1, debuts on SportSouth on Friday, July 8 at 10:30 p.m. ET following the Braves game against the Phillies at 7 p.m. ET.
Hosted by Braves pitcher Tim Hudson, Under the Lights: Making of a Braves Broadcast goes inside the production truck, the broadcast booth and the Braves' clubhouse to showcase the controlled chaos of a live game production. The special utilizes split screens to display simultaneously the broadcasters, production team and what the viewers see on their televisions at home.
With exclusive insight from play-by-play announcer Chip Caray, analysts Joe Simpson and Tom Glavine, producer Joe Vencius, director Bill Moore, Braves LIVE senior producer Mike Iachino and others on the production team, Under the Lights: Making of a Braves Broadcast highlights the role each plays on game day, the dynamics between them and the pride they take in broadcasting Braves games.
ESPN did a behind the scenes thing with one of their college football broadcasts some years ago, and I quite enjoyed it. There's a lot that goes into each broadcast that most people take for granted because the games are broadcast so seamlessly. Tune it and check it out after tonight's game.

UPDATE: According to SportSouth, the program will air tonight at 10:30pm, even if the Braves game is rained out.
