Kemp to the Braves!

Please don't hold me to this but i just got some insider information a short while ago that FW is making a serious "under the radar" push to trade for LA's Matt Kemp.  Apparently, FW is willing to give up one of the "four horsemen" for a talent like Kemp who can bat anywhere and stabilize CF for ATL.  VERY MUCH hoping this holds true and actually happens!!!  Whose down for that?  I think everyone who is a fan of the Braves.

Pics or not happening

But seriously, I would love Matt Kemp as a Bravo. Will this happen? This is the type of player that you splurge on…not Hunter Pence. Haven’t watched much Doyers this season, but last season I noticed his defense had regressed tremendously. He seemed really shy around the wall. FW, bring this man to ATL.

I would be willing to part with 2 of the 4. Delgado and Minor plus 2 others for him.

Kemp is a solid defender who adds a lot on offense. He’s only under control for the 2012 season but with Lowe’s contract done after 2012 I think something could be worked out.

by jack dein on Jul 30, 2011 1:05 AM EDT reply actions

I would include ANY two of the four, and possibly any single one of our MLB guys – Hanson, JJ or Beachy (they wouldn’t want Lowe or Huddy, obviously.

Why not? I can understand not wanting to give him up for Pence, but Matt Kemp???? He’s one of THE best players in baseball. You would not give up a PROSPECT from a position of strength for this organization for one of the top players in the game, who is under control for another year after this one?

That’s just ludicrous.

i absolutely agree with you. This is a once in lifetime opportunity for the Braves to grab up one of the best outfielders, if not one of the best young talents in the game. He’s also a perfect fit for the city of Atlanta and paired with Heyward, will give the Braves one of the most exciting outfield duos in recent memory.

If FW can pull this off, he should be and most likely will have to be willing to trade any of his prospects.

Cutch and Upton are both the face of their franchise undoubtedly and are in the middle of playoff races. The Dodgers need to unload some players making it so Kemp may actually be available. You need to think about what you say before you post it.

by Braves24 on Jul 30, 2011 11:31 AM EDT up reply actions

Irrelevant

You’re comparing apples to oranges.

1. Pittsburgh has been on the hot seat with MLB for the last 2 years for not paying players/putting a decent product on the field when they’re receiving a crap ton of luxury tax money. Now, Pittsburgh is in contention and putting fans in the seats and Cutch is one of the biggest reasons for that. It is less than a 1% chance that Cutch is available IMO.

2. If you have read ANYTHING about the Dodgers over the last year it is very clear that McCourt either a) doesn’t know what he’s doing or b) is hell bent on destroying the franchise. Either way the franchise is in serious trouble with MLB, needs to reduce it’s costs (fans has abandoned them and with good reason) and present a highly effective plan to a bankruptcy judge for turning the franchise around. Kemp is under contact for 1 year and 2 months, they have very little surrounding him to keep them competitive past next year (though that might be a stretch) and they have little in the farm system.

All this adds up and makes it at least plausible that Kemp could be traded. Not sure where your getting your opinion from.

no it was minor delgado schafer and prado.

you can only trade three guys at a time. schafer was in a second deal with the dodgers for a reliever. so it was kemp rhp for those four but a two seperate trades. 3 for 1 and 1 for 1. if you google matt kemp to braves youll see some delgado minor lipka and someone else suggestions.

There’s nothing out there with any credibility.

I'm kidding

I actually heard 2K11 wasn’t half bad.

But I played 2K10 and it was pretty horrible

Would something like

Vizcaino+Delgado+Bethancourt+Hoover+Lipka

be enough?

by DreamWithinADream on Jul 30, 2011 2:57 AM EDT up reply actions

actually

that might do it. Lipka, though, might need to be replaced (as many are down on him right now).

Vizcaino + Delgado + Hoover + Salcedo

should get it done.

That would be insane to bring Kemp to Atlanta, but the prospect cost would be astronomical and he’s a free agent after 2012.

True

But as some others mentioned it is possible we could resign him depending on how much he likes his time here. Granted we will still need to pay hanson and maybe JJ depending on if we keep him.

by DustinSmith on Jul 30, 2011 12:02 PM EDT up reply actions

Whether he likes Atlanta or not...

it takes money to resign him, lots of money. He’s as likely to take a hometown discount as Tex was.

Impossible. Thanks for the insider information, but just because someone says it does not make it true.

by fandave on Jul 30, 2011 10:55 AM EDT reply actions

You expect us to believe

someone at MLBNetwork has “insider” information on a trade involving Matt Kemp and they aren’t following it with up to the minute coverage, much less announcing it? How have the mods not taken this down yet…?

It was a particularly small egg...thats why I asked.

OMG

and then we're trading for David Wright and Pujols, right?

At this point...

if Kemp is not acquired and the Braves give up one of their best pitching prospects for someone like Quinten, Willingham or Crisp, FW should resign.

trades

i never understood the value of a starting pitcher in the minors, against the elite position players in the pros.a pitcher would pitch every 5-6 starts, while the position player can play seven days in a row.do the math a dominate position player is more valueable to a team than the pitcher.

You know the meme of Pujols, Reyes, Braun?

The guy that justin is making a mess over himself over did it like 2-3 years ago, when he declared Heyward, Hanson, and Freeman all ready for the majors, in a relatively humorous way, and has the tendency to pop in randomly every few months, prompting the said reaction

No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

Oh, I've heard that

It’s just the post quality just blows me away. Perhaps I’ve not noticed the complete absence of grammar/spelling/grasp of the English language in previous posts. That, or I’ve just ignored them! :p
