Free player swaps
What one player would you steal from each of the other NL East teams?
In light of the looming trade deadline and the subsequent crazy amount of rosterbation going into August 1st, I offer a new idea. This is not intended to be rosterbation, so please don't let it become such. In essence, this is just a player swap. You can name the player you would most like to have on the Atlanta Braves if you could straight steal them overnight from the rival ball clubs in the NL East. You do not have to specify who you'd swap them with, just name who you'd steal. However, try to make it so that the Braves have a complete roster, ie; you can't steal HanRam and Reyes.
Philly: Cole Hamels - It'd be nice to have a dominate lefty starter.
Mets: Jose Reyes - Goodbye AGon
Marlins: Mike Stanton - He's got the POWAH.
Nationals: Zimmerman - Chip would retire.
Reyes SS, Prado LF, Heyward CF, Zimmerman 3B, McCann C, Uggla 2B, Freeman 1B, Stanton RF, P
Hanson, Hamels, Hudson, JJ, Beachy
Enjoy!

Who I would take
Marlins – Mike Stanton (his power in unmatched by almost anyone)
Phillies – Doc Halladay (He is as good as it gets, regardless of age)
Mets – David Wright – New change of scenery could do wonder for this player
Nats – How could you not take Strasburg? (potential alone)
Doc
JJ
Hanson
Huddy
Beachy
Long Rel.: Meds
7th: Venters/Strasburg/EOF/Moylan
8th: Strasburg/Venters/EOF/Moylan
9th: Kimbrel
Lineup
Prado
J-Hey
Chipp
Big Mac
Uggla
David Wright
Mike Stanton
A-gon
David Plays left, Mike plays Center (range and a cannon), J-Hey in right
Hey it’s fantasy so I can do what I want lol (I’m also considering Strasburg and Meds make miraculous comebacks and pitch in the postseason)
Wow, one man can only dream. Now thank you sir, I will go change my pants.

Mets: Jose Reyes. The only drawback at all is his contract. Acquiring a Nick Punto-esque utility guy who wouldn’t hurt when Reyes needed some DL happy time would be vital, but when he’s healthy, Reyes is a talent at the shortstop position that is truly unparalleled in this current generation.
Nationals: Bryce Harper. The man is true 80 power, and he’s still growing into his body. There isn’t a comp, because we’ve possibly never had a Bryce Harper before. For a bat like that, you’d make room.
Phillies: Roy Halladay. Hamels would be REALLY tempting to have a solid left on board, but I have a feeling a staff leader like Doc would make guys like Hanson, Beachy, Teheran, etc. all so much better.

Huh
I done forgotted the Marlins. Derrrr.
Marlins: I’d rather have Harper than Stanton, and Reyes over Hanley. By default, then, I guess I would go Josh Johnson with a 6-man rotation and two solid long men that can fill in. He is so dominant when he’s on the mound that it’s hard not to take the risk.

Do we assume others can pluck from us?
then Stanton would be a must since someone would certainly snag Heyward. Johnson is just too injury prone.
http://sportsandgrits.blogspot.com/
PHI – Halladay. Barely edges out Hamels, Victorino, and Howard, and this would have been Brown if not for Stanton’s presence with FLA. Still, a top of the rotation workhorse would relieve some BP innings.
NYM – Reyes. It’s just between him and Wright (not sure I’d want anyone else on the team), and SS is a bigger need
WASH – Strasburg. Once healthy, he slots in @ the top of even our vaunted staff.
FLA – Stanton. Harder call here than I figured, but he’s already on the NL HR leaderboard and I suspect he’ll continue to get better.
For some reason, I cannot get aboard the Brown train (insert joke here) lol
Maybe it is just me, but I have yet to see truly what everyone sees in this kid.
I know he has (all-star) potential, but crap so did Cameron Maybin, at one point.
I very well could be proven terribly wrong, but I just do not see this kid blossoming into the player many think he will be.
I also know that he really has only played, what amounts to, a little over a half of a season, but he’s not stealing bases, he’s not showing the defensive prowess everyone thought he would have, he’s not hitting for the power he’s supposed to have, he does not seem to have good pitch recognition, nor is he hitting for average either.
Given I will truly wait until the end of next season to make a better judgment on the kid, so far, he’s shown me nothing special to deserve the hype he gets(in the majors). Also, I know its waay to early to make judgments, and most of the aforementioned problems I’ve noticed can be fixed with experience, but I’m just giving my opinion.
Maybe he will turn it on later this year, and if that’s the case so be it, but my eye test from seeing him, throughout this year and last, I’m really just not all that impressed. Truthfully, I hate to sound like a true turd, but I hope he never does reach close to his potential, unless he is traded to the AL lol. If he does, that makes the Philly lineup look alot scarier. Of course we all know though, it does not matter who the Phillies have, as long as Ruiz and Victorino are in the lineup. WE’RE DOOOMED! LOL

I think I have a decent insight here
At the beginning of the season, I believed as you do: this kid is overrated and will be a replacement level (or worse) AAAA player. But I admit, he’s won me over this year – even while putting up mediocre numbers. Why? He had his hammate bone taken out in ST which is known to suppress power numbers, but instead of hang-dogging it, he’s run out there, not complained, and still put up a season that Jason Heyward would prolly trade for. His W/K ratio is about 1:1 and his power has been very good for a kid still recovering from the hammate bone surgery. The immense upside that even the most critical Brown doubters see is still there and he’s advanced metrics (for whatever they’re worth) show that he can still attain that upside. I hate to say it, but there will be arguments in a few years about whether one would prefer Heyward or Brown.
Brown
With the eye test, I watched him last season in a couple games, and I was really, really disappointed. He looked so much like a tools-only type of player who was not applying any patience or mature baseball skills in his game. That was watching minor league games. This year, I’ve caught 3 of his major league games, and he’s really impressed me with his pitch selection and routes in the outfield compared to last year. Something clicked with him in the last year. I drafted him for $1 in an NL-only keeper league with no bench, and I’ve not had any desire to move him this year.
Hey! I’m new.
