Martin Prado Headed To Mississippi Braves For Rehab Assignment
With the International League headed into their All-Star break today, Atlanta Braves outfielder/third baseman Martin Prado will go to Mississippi to continue his rehab assignment with the M-Braves. Prado hit .176 with three walks and an RBI in six games with the G-Braves.
Prado made his Major League debut with the Braves on April 23, 2006, becoming just the seventh M-Brave to receive a promotion directly to Atlanta. Prado was a member of the inaugural Mississippi Braves club in 2005 where he hit .280 in 143 games. He also appeared in 43 games with the Double-A club in 2006, batting .278.
Added trivia: Can you name the other six M-Braves to get promoted to the Majors for the first time directly from Mississippi. Post your answers in the comments section.
Earlier today the M-Braves placed pitcher Kenshin Kawakami on the disabled list with a right shoulder strain. I would more aptly describe the injury as the Braves trying to get as much insurance money out of his contact as they can ... and KK is helping by pitching like he's injured.

Jordan Schafer and Randall Delgado would count, but they don’t since they were after Prado?

Implicitly
Prado was the 7th, the the other 6 had to have been before him

OT
Tom Verducci has declared Brian McCann to be the most underrated player in baseball. I’m inclined to agree.

Does Mississippi even play tonight?
MILB doesn’t show any Southern League games at all.
where is PRADO going to play?
3rd since Chipper is out, left and sit McClouth? I’ve been wondering this since he was put on the DL and Schafer has been a great spark plug in the leadoff spot. Where are the Braves going to go with this? Maybe I’m thinking about this too hard!!
Prado looked healthy in Mississippi
I went to both games while Prado was here in Mississippi and he looked really healthy and ready to play. Even played in the rain Wednesday and hustled into third to beat out a throw. Got some photos from both games here:
