Atlanta Braves Fan Confidence Poll
If it's Monday Tuesday, then it's the Atlanta Braves Fan Confidence Poll. As always, this poll and therefore your confidence level should encompasses several areas of the team. These areas include, but are not limited to, the team’s ownership, current management, talent, minor-league system, but mainly the team's general playing ability on the field. The poll will close in 24 hours, so get your vote in now!

This should be fun.
Sadly, until Uggla starts hitting and Heyward returns to form, I can’t vote higher than an 8…and that may be too high.

Love how the 1's never explain themselves...
yet they show up in force and destroy the standard distribution curve.
All those 1's should be behind bars.
….lol….
I voted a 5, since .500 ball is pretty much what we’ve been playing, of late.
Too many guys with solid D and no O is where we are right now. Not necessarilly the worst situation to have, amongst other teams, but not nearly as good as we were last year.
Unless the Phillies hit a brick wall, we’re phucked. And I hate saying that more than anybody.

Well mate let me provide some optimism. If we are within striking distance in our division after playing so poorly, imagine what it will look like after a couple of months of playing at our actual talent level.
When we’re playing at our actual level, let me know….
…….
Freeman is the Real F’ing Deal. Especially for a 1st baseman. Take notes, Tex.
Schafer is helping us to stay afloat, right now. He could run circles around McOut.
McOut can’t wait for the end of the year, so he can leave, and start being healthy again.
As unlikely as this seems, Prado is starting to get figured out. I think it’s going to click for him, just hopefully sooner rather than later.
If Chipper started hitting like it was 2008, that would be fucking awesome. He was hitting anything that moved in 2008. Lol, that would help.
AGon is starting to remind me of Garrett Anderson, more and more, every day. And Greg Norton. And TGlaus. His swing is shit, now. And apparently, he’s beyond help.
Uggla couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn right now, even if said barn was pitched at him. Dude needs to just like……hang with the guys, and watch Field of Dreams, or The Sandlot, or something. Get it back, basically. Start having fun. Hit the damned ball.
Heyward is more-or-less out indefinitely. Aside from a few months last season, the guy has confirmed my suspicion that he really is 36. I’m guessing the next injury is back or shoulder. I’ve got a shoulder that plagues me as well, and I know, that aint going away unless it’s corrected, surgically.
Here’s hoping that everything gets ironed out so we can still win the WC and the WS.

I agree with lots of what you said, but being the chronic nitpicker that I am..
Freeman is looking great but I’m not sure he has stabilized at the ML level yet. I think its possible he has but I sense a few more dramatic up-and-down cycles for him.
Prado is going to be good, he is too good at hitting the fastball and making contact to slump for any long period. Plus, all of a sudden the dude has developed power, not only to the gaps (and Prado’s doubles last year were one of my favorite parts of watching the Bravos in 2010) but beyond that fence thing.
Chipper is a mentor to almost everybody on the team and has also had moments of “old-school” chipper this year. But I pray that our team isn’t relying on him too heavily because it would be silly to expect more than 145 games (including playoffs) from Chipper.
Call me old-school but Sea Bass gets the rare “defensive anchor” bonus from me. He is a pleasure to watch in the field and I really feel that he improves the defense of Dan Uggla (in a more intangible way) and our 3rd baseman (because of the confidence our 3rd Baseman would have to have in the guy to his left in almost any situation- btw, I was a bit negative on Agon’s range pre-season but his sure-handedness and confidence within his zone is a comparable factor.) Plus, we all knew what to expect from him on both the upside and downside. Right now he is splitting the difference and while it is the 1st half (in which Agon has traditionally been very strong) I think it is unreasonable to be displeased with his holistic performance thus far.
Dan Uggla….
Be optimistic with Heyward, beyond what his injury-prone nature means for the team, when healthy he can make an incredible impact and I firmly believe we will see him make an impact in the month of June. If he doesn’t we have a couple of suitable replacements who can produce (Hinske and that Jayson Werth/Jeff Francoeur fellow.) But like I said, I think we will see him back and producing reasonably soon.
But beyond the specifics, the thing that kills me about this team is the fact that we never seem to help ourselves in close games. It really isn’t the score that is causing me such anguish, but more how each game is going. We seem helpless, partly because of underperformance, and partly because we can’t get enough consistency to produce.
But I firmly believe, and Braves nation I hope you believe with me, that we will turn this around. I still think this is our year. And if anyone remembers even last year they can tell you that our standing and record is pretty fortunate and that there is a lot we can do with it.
Sure, it’s not over yet. But we no longer have our secret weapon. That was a large part in us making the playoffs, last year.
Apparently, as of right now, the Braves AND Marlins got screwed, only the Marlins got a lefty out of it.

I love it. “Secret weapon.”
Fredi Gonzalez: Right. Bananas. How to defend yourself against a man armed with a banana. Now you, come at me with this banana. Catch! Now, it’s quite simple to defend yourself against a man armed with a banana. First of all you force him to drop the banana; then, second, you eat the banana, thus disarming him. You have now rendered him ’elpless.
McOut
has one of the highest OBPs on the team.

The very reason I stopped voting last year.
Love how the 1’s never explain themselves…
yet they show up in force and destroy the standard distribution curve.
However… I always read what y’all have to say.
The comments are more relevant than the poll results.

What? I've always explained my 1...
no Pujols, no Damon. Until we get both, I’ll keep voting 1.

If we could get Pujols and Braun, we would be contenders with the Phillies for the division.

Bleh, Braun?
Who wants that scrub. Damon is the better LF. No Damon, then it’s a 1.

Seriously bothered by our new manager’s in-game strategy and the thought process he demonstrates in his post-game quotes; still expecting Uggla to turn around, but definitely getting worried about his huge contract; and not terribly happy with the draft pick last night, especially since DeMacio justified the pick by saying Gilmartin “knows how to win”. I seriously thought that’s just something people said on the internet—as a joke.
I voted a 6 and that’s the lowest I’ve voted yet. As much as I believe in this team (and I really, really do believe in the talent on this team) it is harder to justify voting much higher. It isn’t about our record, its about how the games have happened and how little we’ve done to help ourselves in close games.
I should note though that I am basing this overwhelmingly on our major league club..
6 for me as well
Still no offensive consistency and injuries are piling up. Not to mention anything related to Fredi Gonzalez.. Geez.. Tough to watch the games sometimes. Prado and Mac are doing everything by themselves, with a little Big Damage on the side.

Usually stay @ 8 because of the overall soundness of the club but I must admit I was tempted to vote lower this time. The Padres & Mets series were real downers. Heyward’s absence, Uggla’s deterioration w/no cure in sight only pile on more anxiety. Had to tap into my STO (Spring Training Optimism) reserve to stay @ 8.

6 for me
Hate seeing Fredi in the Dugout. The guy just doesn’t rub me the right way and makes dumb decisions. Uggla is hitting about .100 off what i was hoping for this year. Heyward is injury prone and it is not early to say that about him. Huddy is struggling. Our offense is anemic and if you don’t score runs you won’t win, no matter how good the pitching is. We still have a great club but it’s hard to be optimistic sometimes…

but only because of our farm system and Rookies. Take those out of the equation and I might have voted 6.
I’m on my 5th or 6th straight week of a “7” due solely to Fredi Gonzalez.
