Braves Minor League Players Collecting The Awards This Season
This season the Atlanta Braves minor league players have won Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week awards with regularity. Today we learned of two more such honors. Gwinnett Braves (AAA) starter Mike Minor won the International League Pitcher of the Week award, while Lynchburg (A+) first baseman Joey Terdoslovich won the Carolina League Player of the Month.
For Minor it was his second Pitcher of the Week award this season, the previous honor came during the third week of April. The one-hitter that Minor threw last night was all that he needed for last week's honors.
Terdoslovich becomes the first Braves player to win a minor league Player of the Month award this season. He hit .304 (31-for-102) with four home runs, 11 doubles and 20 RBI in 27 games in May. He led the team in doubles and RBI, tied for the team lead in home runs and was third on the team in runs scored (19). He hit safely in 21 out of 27 games in the month, and had an extra-base hit in 13 of those games.
The award for Minor continues a streak of seven straight weeks of Braves farm hands winning Player or Pitcher of the Week honors. They have collected nine such awards during that time:
April 18-24: Mike Minor, IL Pitcher of the Week
April 18-24: Zeke Spruill, CL Pitcher of the Week
April 25 - May 1: Julio Teheran, IL Pitcher of the Week
May 2-8: Randall Delgado, SL Pitcher of the Week
May 2-8: Braeden Schlehuber, CL Player of the Week
May 9-15: Arodys Vizcaino, CL Pitcher of the Week
May 16-22: Todd Redmond, IL Pitcher of the Week
May 23-29: Jakob Dalfonso, SAL Player of the Week
May 30 - June 5: Mike Minor, IL Pitcher of the Week
May: Joey Terdoslovich, CL Player of the Month
Pretty darn cool. Keep the streak going little Braves.

Dumb Question.
How do you qualify for pitcher/player of the week?
I notice Minor has won, so major league experience doesn’t preclude winning an award.
Could Heyward win an award during his rehab stint in the minors or are DL’d players excluded?

I want to say that players on a Major League rehab assignment do not qualify for the award. I don’t believe they are counted towards each minor league team’s roster limit, so they’re not really on the roster, they’re just auditing.
You think ML teams would find a more efficient way of auditing their minor league system.

BA's prospect Hot Sheet
Odd that our MiL’ers are racking up these awards but are rarely showing up on the BA Hot Sheet…
Hopefully Dalfonso is the real deal.
He certainly has come out of nowhere this season. Likely trade bait if he continues to excel. Unless he can play left field. That said, 6 steals and more homeruns than doubles is an odd stat.
