Atlanta Braves Fan Confidence Poll
If it's Monday, then it's the Atlanta Braves Fan Confidence Poll. As always, this poll and therefore your confidence level should encompasses several areas of the team. These areas include, but are not limited to, the team’s ownership, current management, talent, minor-league system, but mainly the team's general playing ability on the field. The poll will close in 24 hours, so get your vote in now!
(I'm on vacation the next two weeks, so no FCP results until I get back. Follow my Pacific NW adventure @gondeee.)

And it’s pretty much entirely the pitching staff. Even middle relief has picked it up recently. But man oh man most of the offense has been brutal. I also don’t much understand some of Fredi’s decision making, particularly with the lineup (using McLouth and Schafer instead of using Hinske, one of the best bats on the team this year, in LF; batting Gonzo 5th on occasion). But with pitching this good it’s hard not to be a little confident that once the offense gets healthy and turns it around that they won’t be the wild card favorites.

Would be higher if they fire Fredi

Because stable winning franchises fire coaches mid-season...

7 is not a bad vote
"Bunting's my favorite." Fredi G
It's like saying I'd vote an 8...
But only if they tore up Dan Uggla’s contract and DFA’d him…

I would love it to be higher, but this team just cant seem to keep it together. When the pitching is spectacular, the offense flounders, when the Offense is going, it seems we have a pitcher or two that is having an off day. And the affiliates are not playing so well either.
OT, but did anyone read Jeff Passan’s article about the all-star game? Man he gave Infante no love about being picked last year. Seems if he was a Braves fan he would know what Infante meant to this team last year, especially with all the injuries we had. Here is the link to this idiots column if you want to read it.
The minor league teams never win. They’re all about player development instead of winning.
MASN Announcer: "Ususally they have what they call here 'the privilege,' and that's what bobby cox calls it when he let's the veteran guys swing away on 3-0. This is not such a hitter."
Jason Heyward: Single up the middle, ballgame.

My confidence is still very high with this team. We have never really been at full strength with this team and we still are tied for the second best record in the NL.
I really believe after the All-Star break we will have Prado and Beachy back healthy and Uggla and Heyward back hitting. Once that all comes together we can and should have a dominant stretch run team with real trade bait in Minor etc to get a piece we need.
Jason Heyward wins at baseball.

A solid 7
Pretty much due to the bullpen, excitement about Schafer’s possibilities, Heyward/McLouth being back and looking pretty good, Brian Frickin’ McCann.
Would’ve been an 8 if not for Hanson/Prado/Jones ailing, Scott Proctor, and there not being a good 3B available if Chip’s gotta miss more time.
No reason they should have shit the bed against the Mets, but they’re performance in game 3 of the Rangers series left me optimistic. Can’t wait to shutdown Yunel this week.

Up four slots from last week, to five.
I’ve looked at the Pacific Northwest as a vacation destination, so I’m looking forward to hearing your impressions of the region.

I am in the Pac NW (ie SF) right now
Amazing weather but too many bandwagon Giants fan. You see the hats and T-shirts everywhere you go. I remember like three years ago that thisbwas not the case. I guess when you win a WS, the “fans” come running with die hard support. Oh and don’t mention Buster Posey injury, those are fighting words.

Pacific Northwest generally refers to the Oregon-Washington-British Columbia area. Having lived in San Francisco for 12 years, I don’t think I ever heard anyone refer to it as part of that region.
In any case, though, I’m glad someone hates the San Francisco-ite bandwagon Giants fans as much as I do. When they went to the World Series against the Angels in 2002, the entire city went from “What’s a baseball?” to “YEAHHH TSUYOSHI SHINJO” overnight.

Yeah you are right
Nobody calls SF the northwest. I just assumed that Letter2 was hinting at SF. He could have been mentioning Seattle or Portland or something actually NW. I bet you those fans will pretend not to remember that 2002 series. Bonds making the last out, Dusty giving the ball to Russ as he was heading to the dugout, or (in my opiion the best bc it is annoying) the rally monkey.

Supposedly beautiful summers out there
I say go for it.

That was my original plan for this summer, but now I’m leaning toward going back to California and sliding the Northwest to another time.

So, you changed your mind in less than a minute?
Seattle area is nice in WA state. It does get hot there during the summer at times, into the 90’s. Nights are cooler though.
Never been to northern CA, so can’t comment on that.
Plenty of things to do. Either way, you should fit in just fine though.
I may not have represented myself clearly. I’ve tossed around the notion of going to Seattle for the better part of a year now, and thought I might do so this summer. But a few weeks back I began to look more toward checking in with some friends in L.A. and San Francisco instead.

Damn fat fingers hitting the wrong buttons. Where's my dialing wand?
But as I was trying to say, maybe it’d help if you put up what you’d enjoy to do on your vacation. Hiking? Camping, and nature exploring? Just short site seeing stuff be it mountains/nature or urban attractions? Looking for nightlife/parties? A baseball based advanture seeing games in new parks? Just wanting to be somewhere different for a little bit? That might help in discussion about impressions of the region tailored to what you are wanting to know about.

I like seeing cities as opposed to nature, but if nature’s close to the city, I’ll allow it. I’d love to check out a Mariners game, and I would like to see the Experience Music Project, Pacific Science Center and places of the sort. I love museums.
But other than that, it would give me the opportunity to simply see another place far different than the ones I know. Sometimes, that’s the adventure itself.

Nothing’s set in stone yet, and it looks like the more likely outcome is me crashing Jareth’s place and then heading north to SF.
But we do get to see each other in August! And if you ever get the inclination to drive to Knoxville, I’d be happy to host you.

I assume you’re trying to build up a strong clientele, get your name spread around via word of mouth and then when the training staff down on Hank Aaron Drive hear about this undrafted masseuse out of Tennessee, they will make contact with you to keep the guys stress free during the pennant race. something like that right?

Considering the injuries and underproduction, it’s amazing we’re even still in the race. Heyward, McLouth, and Beachy should help a lot. Our depth has proved to be our savior yet again this year. Keep the faith everyone, as bad as things have been thus far the best is yet to come from this team.
If we can land [Stephen Drew], I will give FW a bj.

8 with the same sentiments
If the lack of producion continues after the AS break, I may reconsider my vote then.
"People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." Rogers Hornsby
8 for me
Jair Jurrgens, Tommy Hanson, Jonny Venters, and Brian Effing McCann. And the team is Seven games above 500 despite little offense. (Yesterdays top 3 in lineup did not have a batting average above .230)

We’ve certainly assembled the piece to contend for awhile but we’ve been terrible hiring the right people to execute that. Fredo is a horrible manager, Larry Parrish is a constant joke as a hitting coach, and our trainers sit back and react to everything rather than take any proactive measures. It’s a shame we could squander this talent with bumbling fools handling the execution.
The rest is open to debate...
Everybody will have an opinion about baseball issues, especially in this new paradigm of advanced metrics.
Not everyone knows medicine, so to say our trainers are performing inadequtely is quite frankly a joke…
Question for you...
Is Scott Proctor aware how disliked he is by certain sectors of Braves fans? Or do guys just block it out and go about their business?
Aware of it...
but blocks it out. Same for George and both Scotts.
Some quotes that I wish I could tell you from Proctor — but can’t.
I'm sure its in the same vein...
as what Kareem Abdul-Jabbar said to that kid in the movie Airplane!…

I have confidence in our pitching to get it done. Our bats still worry me.
McCann – doing fine.
Freddie – he’s a rookie and started off the season rough. he looks as though he is turning it around lately though.
Uggla – needs to be sent to extended ST to rework his swing and confidence.
Gonzo – great glove but unfortunately with the injuries is hitting higher than he should. he should not be above 8th.
Chip – I believe his recent decline was from injuries. With Heyward and McLouth back we should see Chip take some more off days to stay fresh and be able to produce more. However if the offense continues to struggle I have a feeling he will keep himself in the lineup to try and help but would actually make things worse for him with injuries and bring down his production.
Heyward – Just returned from injury hopefully he goes on a monster tear and gets our offense back in gear.
Schafer – doing well so far as a lead off man. could use a little more in the OBP department. Love that he is seeing an average of 4 pitches per AB. Last night alone he saw 33 in 5 ABs. Great potential just needs to harness it.
McLouth – Hopefully he gets back on the hot streak he was on before his injury. If not he will soon be replaced by
Prado – arguably the best hitter on the team however he is injured. Once he gets back our offense should really click.
6, down to 4 if we lose the series to the Expos.
New manager, some new players, new coaches. I’m thinking the Braves may end up tied or slightly behind the Mets for second place in the division. Too many kinks this season.

I know it is the one and only team from Canada, the Vancouver Blue Jays.
