Mississippi Braves @ Chattanooga Lookouts - Postponed

Lynchburg Hillcats 11, Wilmington Blue Rocks 1

  • Andrelton Simmons SS - 3-5 2 RBI, SB(4), E(9), .337 Avg
  • Adam Milligan RF - 4-5 2B, HR(5), 2 RBI, .247 Avg
  • Braeden Schlehuber C - 2-4 2B, BB, K, SB(2), .224 Avg
  • Willie Kempf 7 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 7 K, 7.11 ERA

Well someone got some baseball in today. For the second day in a row the Hillcats pounded the Blue Rocks. The Hillcats have scored 20 runs in the last two games. The most they have scored in any two games before this was 13 on April 20-21. Don't look now but Andrelton Simmons is in the top ten in the Carolina League in batting average and he has collected eight hits in his last three games. Adam Milligan also busted (burst?) out of his slump in a big way today. He is still slugging .575 on the year (.328 iso if you were counting) but his OBP is just .276. Matthew Weaver also added a three run homer but is still hitting just .188. This just in: Lynchburg is 9-4 in their last 13 games.

Matt Crim will take the mound tomorrow against the Blue Rocks.

Hagerstown Suns 8, Rome 2

The line score doesn't really do Perez justice in this game. He gave up a first inning run on a single, a sacrifice, a balk and then a Bryce Harper single. From the second inning to the sixth he allowed just one baserunner and he generated a ridiculous 13-2 groundball to flyball ratio for the game. He did everything he was supposed to and must have done a fantastic job limiting his pitch count if  he made it through the seventh. Unfortunately he ended up giving up five runs in the seventh when he allowed just two hits and a walk. Thats just dumb luck. The kid pitched fantastic.

Rome is off tomorrow but David Filak will take the mound on Thursday against Savannah.
