After getting hammered in 2 starts with Gwinnett, a 12.60 ERA and a 2.80 WHIP in just 5 innings, JJ Hoover had a very solid return to AA tonight, allowing just 2 earned runs over 6 innings. The 23 year old has pitched very well for the M-Braves this year, with a 2.27 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP in 47.2 innings, so he certainly deserves another shot at AAA at some point this season. Matt Crim struggled tonight, allowing 7 hits and 4 runs, 3 earned, without making it out of the 4th inning. The 23 year old lefty has had a little trouble adjusting to AA, with a 5.56 ERA and a 2.12 WHIP in 11.1 innings after having a 3.55 ERA and a 1.46 WHIP in 25.1 innings for Lynchburg. His walk rate has jumped from 1.4 BB/9 with Lynchburg to 3.2 BB/9, and his hit rate has jumped from an already high 11.7 H/9 to 15.9 H/9.
Paul Clemens will pitch in the series finale Saturday.

In his last 2 starts he's tossed 15 innings, allowing 9 hits and 4 walks while striking out 13.
