I’m going B-.
Wasn’t as long as I would liked, and there were plenty of baserunners, but he showed good stuff, got some strikeouts, and only allowed 1 run in 5.2 innings.
My buddy and I just decided that the braves would be set if we could get Matt Kemp, Jose Reyes, and Albert Pujols.

B+ at least

A-
5Ks only 1 run allowed.
He did his job today, we didn’t support him with run(s).

I guess I'm grading him a bit harsher on giving up so many baserunners
Didn’t retire the Pirates in order in any inning that I can recall.

It’s the equivalent of getting a good grade on a test by guessing right on half the answers.
Q: If not us, who? If not now, when? A: The Batman. And "when you least expect it."
So
I’m not the only one that employs this strategy?

Multiple choice logic: There’s always one that’s clearly wrong, to throw you off. Generally there are two answers which are very similar, one of them is right, so you can guess on a test and expect to get at least a 50.

He’s got only himself to blame for the lack of run support. It’s not the team’s fault that he can’t hit home runs in every one of his at-bats.

Tapper to the mound, Venters threw to Uggla at 2nd but Gonzalez tried to make the catch and knocked it away from Dan
Kawakami - 1, Halladay - 0
Which was the right play…Gonzalez had a shot at the DP, Dan didn’t.
-C
It’s rough to sit through these games and not have someone that can’t hit a Ball?
It was hit to the right side, the 2B covers the bag. Gonzo cost us an out and possibly a double play.
Q: If not us, who? If not now, when? A: The Batman. And "when you least expect it."
No, they decide beforehand who’s covering when it’s hit back to the pitcher.
Uggla can’t turn a DP with his back to first base on that play, and Gonzalez was in perfect position for the DP.
-C
It’s rough to sit through these games and not have someone that can’t hit a Ball?
Except that Gonzo broke in on the ball when it was hit, since he might have had to field it. It wasn’t a ball hit straight back to the pitcher. If the SS is the one fielding the ball then the 2B has to be the one to cover the bag.
Q: If not us, who? If not now, when? A: The Batman. And "when you least expect it."
Gonzo never went for the ball, as it wasn’t far enough to the right for him to need to. He was in perfect position for the DP.
-C
It’s rough to sit through these games and not have someone that can’t hit a Ball?
He broke in to field the ball when it was hit, then broke for the bag once he was that it wasn’t going to get by Venters.
Q: If not us, who? If not now, when? A: The Batman. And "when you least expect it."
Was the ball hit to the pitcher?? Yes.
Was he in position to make the DP?? Yes.
I’m not going to sit here and argue worthless points. He was in perfect position to make the correct play.
-C
It’s rough to sit through these games and not have someone that can’t hit a Ball?
Translation: I’m wrong, so I’ll act like I just don’t want to argue.
Q: If not us, who? If not now, when? A: The Batman. And "when you least expect it."
My translation: I’m right, but it’s not worth arguing. Ball hit to the pitcher, Gonzo covers. It’s not that difficult.
-C
It’s rough to sit through these games and not have someone that can’t hit a Ball?
Gonzo and Uggla both covered 2nd.

For the record
I am still entirely opposed to using Venters there over Kimbrel. Pirates are RH heavy at the top of the line-up, and we’re supposed to be utilizing a closer platoon. Instead, though, we’re trapped in this backward idea that closers are used only if they can pick up a save, rather than in a high leverage situations where the game is tied.

I would have much rather had Venters in right there than Kimbrel. If for no other reason than I think Kimbrel gets the jitters sometimes in high pressure situations.
Chicks dig the long ball.
DOB: Did you ever hit balls as hard as Jason Heyward does?
Chipper: Is that possible?
I disagree about the “jitters.” But he is wild. Which is why I would have had him pitch to Tabata with first base open-I don’t think he’s likely to walk two straight batters.
In that situation, with the infield in and a run = a loss, I’d like to go with a pitcher who has a high probability of striking out the first man he sees. Johnny Venters doesn’t have a great K-rate against righties, but Kimbrel is uber dominant against them. If he strikes out the first guy, there’s two outs, and the infield and outfield can return to normal depth.

Not saying he isn't
He’s a top reliever right now, but I’d prefer Adams or Bell over Venters, I’m sure I’m the only one

"You owe it to yourself to be successful. After that you'll owe it to the IRS."
A megamillionaire
Would be a Trillionaire, lets not be silly now.
Our crappy lucky team *WAS* better than your good unlucky team.
Only in the strictest definition of the word
mega-
prefix, often meaning “large, great,” but in precise scientific language “one million” ( megaton, megawatt, etc.), from Gk. megas “great, large, mighty” (fem. megale ), from PIE *meg- “great” (cf. L. magnus, Goth. mikils, O.E. micel ; see mickle). Mega began to be used alone as an adj. 1982.
But if it really bothers you, substitute “multi” for “mega” in my original post. Works out the same either way.
"You owe it to yourself to be successful. After that you'll owe it to the IRS."
