These areas include, but are not limited to, the team’s ownership, current management, talent, minor-league system, but mainly the team's general playing ability on the field. 9...
My confidence streak of 9s rolls on for another week.
Now, let’s beat up some inferior teams like they’re, um, inferior.

Injuries are starting to show up, hope nothing drastic does. Hate that Beachy is dealing with one, seems to have been caused by batting/swinging rather than pitching, I guess that’s a bright side to it.
10 and 4 in May, a 20 win month or two would be mighty nice
"Bunting's my favorite." Fredi G
btw I voted 9
because we have a complete organization:
- a scary line-up with no holes (ala Melky)
- a scary rotation with no weaknesses
- a great bullpen with only 1-2 weaknesses (if we trade Linebrink and Proctor for serviceable arms I vote 10)
- an absolute monster of a farm system; we only need more hitting prospects

There’s not a ‘pen in baseball that doesn’t have at least 1 or 2 bad arms, and Linbrink and Proctor would only be considered bad arms if you compare them to the rest of our bullpen. Also, we haven’t seen what Proctor will do yet, so at least give him a chance.
If we can land [Stephen Drew], I will give FW a bj.

Again, I voted 9...
acquiring two better relievers would push that to a perfect 10/10. Frankly, I think our pen is one of the best in baseball…but Linebrink has seemingly fallen off a cliff and every time I have seen Proctor he has been the epitome of suck.
As a fan (not that my evaluations matter) I will give Proctor exactly 1 chance this time…if he fails to come through this time it will be clear (to me at least) that he is a AAAA player

Dropping to a 7
due to the recent injuries. Pretty scary with Chip, J-Hey and Beachy all going down.

Heyward struggling/injured, Ughla struggling, Chipper injured, Beachy injured, Lowe’s blister…
Good thing we have one of the best pitching staff’s in the N.L. and that alone is an invaluable asset.
Don't let the green grass fool you.

Great. Now I can’t vote 1 because it’ll look like I’m copying you.

Still alternating 8s and 9s
Rollin with the 9 this week.
If we can land [Stephen Drew], I will give FW a bj.

Again...
It’s a marathon..the Braves are well-positioned for the long haul. Look at the makeup, agewise, of the Brave vs. the Phils. I’ll take our club over anyone in baseball.

I’ve been an “8” kinda guy for several weeks, but that series with the Nats….
'You may not be the first...but you can damn sure be next!"
no worries that was an off series. Here is a break down
Game 1: Defense disappeared for a night and gave the gNats the game. I counted 4 fielding issues that could have been called errors (2 were) and 1 bobble by McCann that allowed a successful stolen base.
Game 2: Kimbrel blew a save It happens every now and then.
Game 3: Our offense went to sleep, but woke-up to its normal self late in the game

We still have a top flight rotation, even with Beachy down for a month or so. We have several pitchers who can step up, such as Teheran, Minor and Lopez. Ithink Proctor is going to surprise the nay-sayers and be a great adition to the bullpen from the right side. He will allow EOF to get some rest and hopefully let us stay away from Linebrink as much as possible. What else can be said about Christian Martinez, last years hate target. Kimbrel is going to have some rough times as does every closer and starter. But he has the stuff, both mental and physical, to get the job done. Venters in the 8th and occasionally closing…Where else in MLB do you have that combo?
As always, if Chipper misses a few weeks, he will be missed. But moving Prado to 3rd and platooning Hinske and Mather in left, will suffice for a few weeks.
Sure, we are not perfect, but no team is. We are well positioned for this year and the next several years.

Want to be higher but I’m just not sold on our ability to close out games. I want to like Kimbrel but that whole thing act is tired and played. Just throw strikes. Venters is so calm, cool and collected, it just doesn’t make sense why he’s not closing “important” games out. Kimbrel looks too rattled and someone always gets on base. Glad to see Mclouth playing well and Martin coming round too and hopefully Uggla can get cranking. Scary lineup when it’s on, scary rotation when it’s on, scary bullpen when it’s on. We need just a tad more gellin and consistency. Go Braves! Let’s SWEEP the Astros!
"That whole thing act?"

Wild Thing?
Unless he thinks Kimbrel acts like The Thing:

But if that were the case, he’d be pretty freakin’ scary.

Someone always gets on base
And he inevitably throws a wild pitch too.
If I had a nickel for everytime someone told me I should shutup, I'd probably have 5 or 6 bucks.
2 WP in 20 games
isn’t exactly “inevitably.”

Don't think anybody's really hanging on to that...
Have you seen his K rates? He’s got to make some adjustments to counter the league, sure, but the guy is a strike-throwing machine when he’s got it all together.

I do agree, he's got everything he needs...
but I don’t get unesay when Venters is on the mound. CK comes in and I’m the edge of my seat every night. I love the guy, so don’t get me wrong. I think “The Thing” would make a solid 1st baseman though.
Yeah, I’m not too worried about him, really. He’s had a few rough outings, but then everybody does (knock on wood). I was at the Ted on Saturday, and it was great to see him come out and take care of business :)

Whoops..
I see.
I still like The Thing act—much more intimidating.

my father calls Kimbrel the Lizard-man
because he looks like a lizard with the whole lean-in-stare thing…
(which by the way I find pretty cool)

A incredibly young heat throwing closer, a rookie phenom at first who is just getting cranked up (can he field or what!), a stellar starting rotation with excellent backups, a new manger who is quickly getting things figured out, one of the best fielding shortstops in baseball who can actually hit at times, a new power hitter (Uggla) under a long term contract who is just getting warmed up, Martin Prado… I could go on, but those are the highlights. Room for improvement? Of course. Such is life, always. Taking all things into consideration, my confidence is sky high.
Kimbrel
is finding his way. Every good closer has to have a lot of confidence. His “act” is his way of psyching himself up. He will develop and mature. He is doing very well for this stage of his career. I expect him to get better and better.
Still a 7.
Our hot May start is a good sign, but the Natinals debacle and our recent injuries keep my optimism tempered to a 7. Our offensive production is still too inconsistent for me to really be comfortable with.
