Chipper had an MRI exam this afternoon. Showed a small meniscus tear in right knee. Had cortisone shot. Hope is this will provide relief.
Chipper will likely miss at least a few games after the cortisone injection, but the team hopes the injection and a little rest will heal his knee. If it doesn't, a scoping of the knee would probably be required and Jones would miss at least 2-3 weeks.
After a pretty injury-free month of April, the Braves have caught a bad case of the injury bug in May. First Moylan's back, then Lowe's blister, then Heyward's shoulder, then Beachy's oblique, and now Chipper's knee. Please stay healthy, guys.
With Chipper out of the lineup, the Braves will likely move Martin Prado to 3rd base and will form a platoon in left field with Joe Mather and Eric Hinske. The team should be able to sustain a few weeks without their third baseman, but if both Jason Heyward and Chipper remain injured, the team could face some serious problems offensively.
Get that knee better, Chipper.
