A couple of updates via twitter today on the Atlanta Braves walking wounded.
It was tweeted by the Braves beat writers that reliever Peter Moylan will have back surgery in Los Angeles with Dr. Robert Watkins, sometime early next week. The hope is that he can return in eight to twelve weeks, which would put him back in the Braves bullpen in the middle of the pennant run.
Outfielder Jason Heyward will have an MRI on his right (non-throwing) shoulder this Thursday. Today at the park Heyward said his right shoulder still hurts, but the numbness is gone. The Braves are hoping to avoid a situation where he has to spend time on the disabled list, and hope a few days of rest will help him to get healthy.
Heyward is not in the lineup tonight, but shortstop Alex Gonzalez is, after he received a couple of days of rest (one game and an off-day). He is recovering from a sore groin.
Derek Lowe, who was forced from his start last week due to a blister on his toe, will make his scheduled start on Thursday.
Let's hope that's all the injury updates we have to pass along...
