Didn’t we sign a guy from Cuba, something like Yassar Gomez? Is he still with the Braves? Rookie or Instructs maybe?

He was in Spring Training. I think he might be hurt, he was one of the guys I’d see work out a little, but he seemed to keep going in early.

According to a Bill Shanks tweet yesterday, Yassar Gomez was among several released over the weekend.

Big thanks for putting this together fandave!
Can’t wait to see how Simmons hits at Myrtle Beach..
Lady: What?!? How did HE get to Heaven?
GOD: Oh, he was in a different area code, so technically it wasn't cheating..
That’s gonna be really interesting. He’s ridiculously good in the field but personally I’m not sure the bat is good enough and jumping him to High A isn’t really fair, but that’s the only thing they could do with Lipka and Salcedo at Rome.

I hope he's not at Myrtle Beach...
that would mean he’s in the Rangers organization ;)

Edited the post to add the following that I’d somehow overlooked last night:
“Also, pitcher Brett Butts and outfielder Mycal Jones will begin the season on the M-Braves’ disabled list.”
Yeah Brett is still recovering from TJ and won’t be back until at least June and Myke twisted his ankle a little and should be back sometime in April.

Why is Arodys starting in high A and not AA
wasn’t he sent up at the end of last year?

I know this is the second time I have asked but I am intrigued by his power numbers last year and I am wondering where he will be starting out this year…
I see he’s gotten some mentions in ST coverage over the last few weeks, but I can not find anything on him lately.

I am pretty excited about this. I have never seen any of our young players play because of my location. If I am coming down south, I am going to make sure to go to the real deal.

young pitching
I’m really excited to see what our top prospect young pitchers get done this year. Arodys looked pretty good in the spring and I could definitely see him getting a promotion to Mississippi mid-season. Maybe Delgado will light it up in AA from the beginning of the season and somehow get a chance at AAA this season. There probably would have to be injuries or extreme ineffectiveness at Gwinnett for that to happen though since they are all full-up even without Minor pitching for them. I am really excited about our Minor League system right now. I hope Lipka, Leonard, and Salcedo put it all together and have monster years. I still think the Braves would be smart to try and pick up a big-time CF prospect if they trade away pitching this summer. I don’t see any answer there in the short-term in the system. I’m hoping Mykal Jones has a bounceback year and Kyle Rose still has potential but they are both probably 3-4 years away and I don’t have much faith in Schafer even though I’d love it if he could turn things around and become a top prospect again. Finally, I’d love to see Willie Cabrera have a big year. He seems like a great kid.
