**There will be spoilers in here, so if you're working your way through the seasons, you might not want to read.**
Season 7 of The Office has been absolutely horrible, and I'm about to get to the point of missing the rest of the episodes and just watching Michael Scott's departure. There's been one good episode the entire year, which was the Christmas episode, and even that doesn't live up to the brilliance we saw in Seasons 1-5.
I know it's Michael Scott's last year and it would be tough to start up any major story lines, but it's been brutally painful to watch the last 18 episodes or so. Yeah, Jim and Pam's wedding was nice and the birth of CiCi had some good moments, but it's been pretty dry since then. Michael and Holly have had a painfully awkward relationship since Season 4 or 5, and this season is no different.
Something they desperately need to do is get rid of is Gabe. He's never once delivered a funny line or brought anything to the show, and I'm just about to the point of muting my television whenever he's talking. Bringing him on the show was a total bust, and I'd say just about everyone saw it coming. In addition, they need to either give The Nard Dog a bigger role, or just cut him out completely. He was funny for about 10 episodes, and he's either been annoying or a non-factor since then. And I'm still not sure why they didn't run with the Andy-Erin-Gabe love triangle thing. I thought that at least had a little potential.
Finally, we need to get Stanley, Creed, Kevin and Phyllis some screen time. They're what helped make The Office the best sit-com since Everybody Loves Raymond, and they're lucky to get two lines in anymore. They should really change this.
So yeah, I needed to rant. Sorry about that. I absolutely love The Office, but this whole season has been terrible. And I know it's tough to come up with content after six years, but surely the writers and producers can come up with something. Anything. I'm praying that Will Ferrell can bring some life into it, but I have my doubts. Whoever replaces Michael needs to do a complete overhaul of The Office, or the show will be dead by 2012.
