Courtesy of David O'Brien who is in Florida for the first day of workouts, he had this from new Braves left fielder Martin Prado:
#Braves' Martin Prado wasn't exactly thrilled about being moved to LF, but said he's got to take it professionally, for benefit of the team.
How can you not love Martin Prado? This is a guy who just a had a huge breakout season in 2010 and finished 9th in National League MVP voting, and now he has to change his position for the benefit of the team. He could have easily complained to the Front Office about having to learn a new position, but he took it as a professional, because he's all about the team and what's best for it. If you don't want a player like Martin Prado on your team, you're not a sports fan.
O'Brien also had this about Jair Jurrjens and Peter Moylan:
Jurrjens cut weight from 212 to 198. "Just taking care of the body better than last year, for sure. Being smart about some stuff, especially not joking when I'm working out anymore. I'm more mature than I used to be. quot;
#Braves reliever Peter Moylan has dropped 23 pounds since last season, down to his targeted weight of 225. Yes, he was 248 last yr.
This is great news for both guys. For Jurrjens, who struggled with knee injuries all last season, taking weight off those knees is always beneficial to staying healthy. As for Moylan, I couldn't believe he was nearly 250 last season. He's not very tall, and carrying all that extra weight probably wears on him as the season progresses. Sadly enough, neither of our pitchers claimed to be ITBSOTL.
