Front Office Fortitude..
Been a Braves fan from Valdosta Ga since birth. When is Frank Wren gonna grow a pair and get Chipper some help? They let Bobby Cox leave the game fattening their pockets and not supplying their fans with the best teams possible. They are ready to go to the 2012 season with a rookie short stop and one of the games best players (that just so happens to play SS) has demanded a trade... ******FRANK WREN DO SOMETHING******** Or your going to continue to put pressure on starting pitchers/ bullpen pitchers to go out there and keep teams to 3 runs because the Braves don't have enough offense to compete in a division that is becoming one of baseballs' best. They are going put so much pressure on Heyward to produce that he becomes the next Francoeur.

I assume you’re referring to Hanley Ramirez. There are two reasons he won’t come to Atlanta:
1) he would cost an enormous amount to get, especially coming from a division opponent 2) he acts like a child and doesn’t fit into the Braves philosophy
….and the fact that he hasn’t demanded a trade
by JohnRocker4CyYoung on Dec 13, 2011 11:02 PM EST up reply actions
I’m thinking it takes a lot of fortitude to wait for the market to develop and a good deal to come our way.
I’m also thinking it would be easier if we had an extra $20-30 M in the budget.
Atlanta just does not need to be reactionary. This is a business.
The Phillies have spent big again this offseason, but I truly think they’ve gotten worse. Heck, the Marlins have been wheelin’ and dealin’, and they’ve managed to alienate their best player.
Like Frank Wren has said numerous times, in August the Braves had the fourth best record in baseball. They had a bad month, not a bad season.
you mean another Mark Texieria deal? Where we mortgage the future for a player and dont resign him? Why not take on a contract that is below market value at 6 years 70mil in Ramirez. They asked him to restructure a deal and take less money.. If the Braves wait til next year and try and get a SS. They are gonna base a salary demand off of the Reyes deal.
I think the question is one of strategy. Some teams go big over the short term seeking instant success. Others play it safe and hope to catch lightening in a bottle. Both strategies have success stories and failures. I guess if there were a certain way to go about it, everyone would do it the same way.

Seriously dude shut up. We have one of the best GM’s in all of baseball. Wren is extremely underrated as a GM, and is doing all he can to strengthen this club. I see on here not only from you, but whiners saying “I’m upset that we didn’t do nothing this week or last week or at the winter meetings”, just shut up. Wren is out there trying to improve this club as best as he can, no reason to rush things just to get something done that doesn’t necessarily improve the 2012 Braves. That is the actual goal is to improve this ballclub. Not just make trades or signings so that Braves fans have something to read during the off-season. If you need something to read, then there are plenty of things out there to read, not only on the internet, but something called books. I give Wren an A+ this off-season. Keep up the great work Wren.

You mean to tell me that down the stretch when the Braves wild card lead dwindled away and our ROY Kimbrell should have been resting that an impact bat (that Wren wont pay) wouldnt have helped? Maybe teams have to pitch to a couple of Braves hittters a bit more careful and create extra baserunners to give more RBI opportunities.. I think your a moron.. Or know nothing about this game..
What is your post about?
Are you trying to say that an(other) impact bat would help the team? Because nobody disputes that. But that’s not really what you’re saying in your post.
This is what your post looks like when I grok through all of the useless and misleading punctuation/sentence structures/misinformation:
Dear Mr. Wren;
At your earliest convenience, please manufacture a player for our team. He should be an immediate and obvious offensive improvement for our starting lineup. If I may be frank (forgive me the droll pleasures of a simple pun), the fact that you haven’t waved your magic wand and performed this operation to date is most discouraging and unsettling. If the matter is not resolved forthwith, I shall be forced to hold you in poor esteem. Be aware that I am not one to forgive on the basis of weak excuses, so please do not respond to me with silly notions about the state of the trade market or the funds with which you are provided. I will hear none of it, and expect you to run the team into bankruptcy if that is what’s necessary for the pursuit of my whims.
Sincerely,
jrod1142
P.S. I have received word from a most trustworthy source that one Mr. Hanley Ramirez may be available for acquisition. I suggest you pursue this course of action directly, although I have not yet had time to verify that he is, in fact, dissatisfied with his current position.
P.P.S. It would appear that your gonads have not yet descended, which is a remarkably unfortunate medical situation for someone of your age and stature. I suggest you get medical attention for this issue immediately, as it may be impacting not only your health, but also your ability to address the terms of your employment in anything more than the most perfunctory manner.

The Braves had one of the best bullpens in baseball last year. They were able to get MAX innings from Venters and Kimbrel. By adding an impact bat, it changes the way an oposing pitching staff has to pitch to middle of the line-up hitters. If you sandwhich a legit threat between McCann, Jones or vice versa. You create RBI potential.. It’s fairly simple people.. At the end of 27 outs. Who ever has scored the most, wins the game. You cant depend on first and second year pitchers to have close to 100 apperances and retain their affectiveness. Why does anyone think that the Braves kept blowing 1-3 run leads in the month of August? The bullpen was over worked. If the Braves scored more runs or added more threats to their offense, they may be able to take some pressure of their pitching staff. They are good but you cant expect them day in and day out to keep every team under 3 runs. Be rational.. Do any of you posting people know this game? or have played it?
