Missing the playoffs
Injuries had a big part in the Braves missing the playoffs, and i doubt we would have done anything if we got there. But the best move they done in this off-season is dump Lowe!!!They could have time shared all his starts and still made the playoffs.I think that we should be patient, and not over-react,bring up some youngsters and see what we have. Our pitching talent is one of the best in the minors, and we have some above avg.talent at other spots.Gonzalez was great deffensively, but awful at the plate.Id give our SS prospects every chance to start. And this Terdoslavich kid should be working at LF,to see if he has the D to compete, his stick is awesome.

I'd love to see Terdo in left in a couple years
But as it’s been much discussed, he’s got a lot of work to do in proving himself at higher levels before he’s knocking at the door. Now, if he destroys AA pitching for Mississippi and makes it to Gwinnett sometime over the summer, then we can all start drooling.

I’d want to see him spend the year in AA. That level is where the rubber meets the road for hitters; it’s the first place they go where they see pitchers who can command their breaking balls. If JT hits well there, invite him to spring training in 2013 and see what happens.
And by the way, I’m glad I’m not seeing a sky-is-falling panic like what’s happening in Boston. 2011 was the beginning of a transition period for the Braves, and 2012 will probably be the second half of it. If the 2012 team wins 93 games and the youngsters play well, I’ll call it a successful season and look forward to 2013, when the Braves should be awesome.

I agree he needs to prove himself in AA, but what is to say he needs a full year to prove himself. He is already 22 (i think) it would be nice to see him rake in AA to the point where it is clear he needs no more work there. (basically what Jason Heyward did 3 years ago (i certainly don’t mean to imply Terdoslavich = Heyward, just using Heyward’s performance in AA as an example of what could happen to make me believe Terdo doesn’t need to spend time in AA if he has shown he has mastered that level).
This is especially true when it seems like he has a good feel for advanced pitching, given his performance in the AFL. Obviously, the AFL has it caveats, pitchers are more tired than hitters, the air is thin, and all that, which I don’t mean to disregard, but the fact remains Terdoslavich hit well and it stands to reason he may have a good feel for what it takes in AA.
Short and sweet, if Terdosalvich is posting a 300/400/500 line by August, I see no reason to keep him down in AA.

We shall see
I agree that if he hits at Mississippi all year, then by late July/August a call-up (or at least a promotion to Gwinnett) might be in order, especially if the Braves have injuries like they did last year. However, I’m anticipating a period of adjustment at AA, with his bat not picking up until June or July. That would be more typical for hitters moving up to AA. And there’s the matter that they’re moving him back to 3B. It’ll be important that he not feel pressured to be s standout right away.

I would agree it is likely he doesnt do what i described…he will probably see a drop of in production, but hopefully he can show glimpses throughout the year that he can: #1 hit like he did this year and #2 play some defense somewhere besides 1B.

Terdo has the bat
The main question is whether or not he can handle 3B. Spending the entire 2012 season at one position should give the Braves execs a better feel on if he is a 3B, or if he should try the OF. Hopefully, he holds his own, spends the end of the season at Gwinnett, and then starts at 3B once #10 hangs it up.

We should do a compilation of “mindless rambling” posts. Just one fanpost that you can copy all similar gems into one big, laughable trade. Who’s with me?

For some reason, I was extremely happy seeing that it was written by him. Looking forward to the ChopMaster post in 2014 about trading our top prospect, Duane Underwood.
