Atlanta Braves Sign Yepez, Lose Castro And Fiorentino
The Braves have signed Minor League free agent catcher Jose Yepez. The 30 year old spent the last 4 seasons with the Mariners organization, hitting .307 with a .846 OPS in 48 games at AAA last year. The team lost two of its own free agents, with right handed pitcher Yeliar Castro signing with the Royals and outfielder Jeff Fiorentino signing with the Athletics.

Oh snap
Is the Boscan era actually over?

I doubt it.
I wrote a novel, it's about baseball, you should buy it:

What’s the point to acquiring Yepez, then? I wasn’t aware that we were short on catchers anywhere down the line.

You always need catchers. You need two or three at every level. There’s nothing saying the guy is going to stick. He could come into ST, get beat out, and get released.

Nothing saying all three couldn’t be in AAA. Nothing saying Kennelly will be in AAA. Nothing saying Yepez will be in AAA. There are a bunch of variables. These are Minor Leaguers who are all holding onto their jobs by a thread, nothing for them is certain.

No Way
Another guy from the Braves goes to the Royals?? Surprise Surpise
Anymore there are just as many former Royals guys coming over to the Braves. Similar scouting styles lead to liking the same type of players.
