The Braves announced several minor league staff changes today. First off, they announced a new minor league hitting coordinator. Don Long served in a similar role in the Pirates organization for the last three years, and he will likely replace Leon Roberts in that role for Atlanta.
Luis Lopez will serve as the new minor league infield coordinator, though I'm not sure he's replacing anyone. Doug Dascenzo will replace Lynn Jones as the club's minor league baserunning coordinator, and also serve as the outfield coordinator. Lopez comes to the Braves from the Boston organization, and Dascenzo comes from the San Diego organization.
The Braves also hired a new manager for their double-A squad. Aaron Holbert comes over from the Cleveland organization where he led three of the last four minor league teams he managed to playoff appearances. Rocket Wheeler will move from managing the Mississippi Braves to managing the GCL Braves. That bumps Jonathan Schuerholz up a level to manage Danville, and Randy Ingle up a level to manage the Rome Braves. Dave Brundage will return to Gwinnett and Luis Salazar will return to Lynchburg.
Not too much exciting news, but news nonetheless. If anything knows anything about these new guys, share it in the comments.
