Rosterbation at its worst...

Well, now that Uggla has signed a 5/62 million dollar deal, the importance of the utility infield/backup OF spots left for the bench might be much more important. Uggla will make 13 million next year, leaving very little wiggle room for the Braves to spend serious money on a CF or SS. They'll have 65 million committed to 7 players (Chipper, Uggla, Hudson, Lowe, Ross, Hinske, McCann), 3 arb-eligible for the 2nd time (Prado, JJ, and O'Flaherty) and 1 for the 3rd time (Moylan). There will still be a fair share of players playing for the minimum (11 or so at 450k a piece). Assuming 10 million or so will be spent on arb-eligible players one way or another, the Braves will have spent 80 million before addressing SS and CF needs. Players such as Ed Lucas, Joe Mather, Jordan Schafer, or Matt Young have a chance in 2011 to audition for a much bigger role for 2012.

The obvious 21 on the Braves Opening Day Squad are...

1. Brian McCann 2. Freddie Freeman 3. Dan Uggla 4. Alex Gonzalez 5. Chipper Jones 6. Martin Prado 7. Nate McLouth 8. Jason Heyward 9. David Ross 10. Eric Hinske 11. Tommy Hanson 12. Tim Hudson 13. Derek Lowe 14. Jair Jurrjens 15. Mike Minor 16. Peter Moylan 17. Eric O'Flaherty 18. George Sherrill 19. Scott Linebrink 20. Jonny Venters 21. Craig Kimbrel

Candidates to fill bench/bullpen spots: Matt Young, Jordan Schafer, Ed Lucas, Jose Costanza, Brooks Conrad, Joe Mather, Stephen Marek, Jairo Asencio, Diory Hernandez, Cristhian Martinez, Brandon Beachy, Barbaro Canizares.
