Atlanta Braves Postseason Pace
For the rest of the season we'll keep a daily tally of the Atlanta Braves chances of making the post season, along with daily commentary. Also consider this a daily open thread for general chatting.
| NL East | W | L | PCT | GB | STRK | Magic Num | Playoff Odds |
| Phillies | 81 | 60 | .574 | - | W3 | 22 | 79.3% |
| Braves | 80 | 60 | .571 | 0.5 | W1 | 23 | 86.2% |
Finally a win! And since we're no longer leading the division, but leading the Wild Card, we picked up a game in those consolation standing to move two games ahead of San Francisco. I've gotta say that the team that scares me the most in a Wild Card race is the Rockies. They seem to have this ability to win a lot of games fast, and they're charging up the standings while beating up on another first place team (Cincinnati).
Home to face the Cardinals, and hopefully some more consistent winning. Philadelphia will be at New York on Friday, so if the Braves win tonight they can actually tie Philly for the division lead.

Congrats to jdmarine for winning the $50 Sports Authority gift card for being the closest to guess the Braves playoff odds yesterday. Same game for today, and the FINAL $50 gift card; in the comments of this post guess tomorrow's Braves playoff odds to the fifth decimal. "If I’m batting behind him (Heyward), I tell the umpire, ‘Will you please check that ball,’" Diaz said. "And he’d be like, ‘It didn’t hit the dirt.’ And I’d go, ‘It might be flat.’ He hits the ball so stinking hard."

"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." A. Bartlett Giamatti

Generally win at home, but are a different team away. Lets see if their streak lasts when they hit the road.
Can we put up a wild card tracker too?
I fed a fish to a pelican and Frisco bay and he tried to eat my cell phone he ran away
Just bought my tickets...

if they dont make the playoffs
do u just lose the money??
A lot of room in right center, if he hits one there we can dance in the streets, the 2-1....
Maybe the Phillies will phail against another mediocre team (see: 4-game sweep by Astros), though hopefully the Braves won’t be failing at the same time.
Also, the last time the Cardinals won back-to-back series was in the first two series after the All-Star break, where they took 7 of 8 from the Dodgers and Phillies.
Yeeeeesh.

The base paths belonged to me, the runner. The rules gave me the right. I always went into a bag full speed, feet first. I had sharp spikes on my shoes. If the baseman stood where he had no business to be and got hurt, that was his fault. -Ty Cobb

A lotta room in right-center, if he hits one there we can dance in the streets. The 2-1. Swung, line drive left field! One run is in! Here comes Bream! Here's the throw to the plate! He is...safe! Braves win! Braves win! Braves win! Braves win!...Braves win!

"What was more odd than that pitch being low is that Jeff Francoeur didn't swing at it." -- Jim Powell, Aug. 4, 2010.

How do the playoff odds make any sense? The Phillies have a better record and have a worse chance of making the postseason?
"If I have asthma, they won't let me scuba. And if I can’t scuba, then what’s this all been about?? What am I working toward??"
"You look like you should be married to one of the San Diego Padres."
It's because of strength of schedule...
After all, they have to play the Atlanta Braves six more times this season, while we play the measly Phillies six times.

It’s rough to sit through these games and not have someone that can’t hit a Ball?
