do u think they are gonna move chapman back to the rotation next year now that he’s done better at fixing his location

by forgotten_glory on Sep 4, 2010 6:43 PM EDT up reply actions

It depends on if they need him in the rotation next year. I would assume yes. He could be the next Randy Johnson.

by romone_braves91 on Sep 4, 2010 6:45 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah..

I think so. When you control this guy for the next six years, I’m thinking 5 years of value from SP + 1 year of Injuries (let’s just go ahead and say Tommy John) trumps 6 years of working out of the Bullpen.

I hate the Phillies so much...

by frozendesert on Sep 4, 2010 6:52 PM EDT up reply actions

I'd think a David Price like deal...

where he kills out the bullpen for the stretch run, then starts next year back in AAA to work on his change up and being more efficient with his pitches (and delay his arb clock).

best part...

Therapist: Frank, this is a safe place. A place where we can feel free sharing our feelings. Think of my office as a nest in a tree of trust and understanding. We can say anything here.
Frank: Anything? Well, uh I guess I, deep down, am feeling a little confused. I mean, suddenly, you get married, and you’re supposed to be this entirely different guy. I don’t feel different. I mean, take yesterday for example. We were out at the Olive Garden for dinner, which was lovely. And uh, I happen to look over at a certain point during the meal and see a waitress taking an order, and I found myself wondering what color her underpants might be. Her panties. Uh, odds are they are probably basic white, cotton, underpants. But I sort of think well maybe they’re silk panties, maybe it’s a thong. Maybe it’s something really cool that I don’t even know about. You know, and uh, and I started feeling… what? what I thought we were in the trust tree in the nest, were we not?

goes 2-3 innings max. Interesting that Teheran is back in the rotation after being skipped. I’d assume he’s kept to a low pitch count too.

see the header that says “starting”? He’s starting. Doesn’t mean he’ll go deep, probably 2-3 innings max, but yeah, he’s starting. He started a few days ago and went I think 1 inning, maybe 2.

It's not about being Chicken Shit

College football teams will accept those kind of deals if the money makes sense, it’s honestly all economics, so I’ll assume that it’s the SEC wanting to take a bulk of the money

When was the last time Iowa or Wisconsin ended their season being in the top 10? I am not a Big Ten expert by any means (hell I hate the Big Ten due to my Pac 10 ties.) So I can care less who is better than who. All I know is they have a helluva a hard time winning the Rose Bowl or National Title.

Ken Rosenthal reported this, anyone else see this, got it from MLBTR

The Braves may pursue their top candidate — believed to be recently fired Marlins skipper Fredi Gonzalez — prior to the end of Bobby Cox’s tenure. If the Braves make a deep playoff run, they may look to lock down Gonzalez before other teams, such as the Cubs, can get their hands on him.

Not at all.

Managers are the biggest slaves to CW and “The Book” in the world. None will use their closer in a tie game on the road. All of them call an IBB with second base open and less than two outs. It is possible for managers to be innovative and brilliant, but no current MLB manager bothers.

I assumed Mauer was wrong because he was too obvious. Looking it up now Mauer had 395 in that span, so the difference was trivial.

It was a bad question too. So when Mauer, Posada, Martinez, etc. DH or play 1st, do the RBIs count?

Well...

He was a master of widening the strike zone…because he could hit his spots. And in the 90’s, the strikezones were a lot wider than they are now. Because he didn’t have power stuff, his numbers wouldn’t be quite as good in today’s game.
