Braves Fall 8-3, Lose 4th Straight and Wild Card Lead
The Braves have played poorly for a month now. Tonight, it finally caught up to us. As of right now, we'd be playing golf in October. Ugh.
Tim Hudson continued his slump in recent starts and had absolutely no control of his pitches tonight. He gave up six runs on seven hits and six walks to a Nationals lineup without Ryan Zimmerman. Hudson continued to get hammered by Adam Dunn, who had five RBI on the night, and has now homered off of Hudson in three of his last seven at-bats.
Rookie starter Jordan Zimmerman, who has been horrible since coming back from Tommy John surgery, dominated the Braves for five innings and only gave up a solo-HR to Omar Infante. The Nationals bullpen worked the final four innings, and they kept the Braves' bats at bay except for a couple meaningless runs in the 8th. The Nationals pitchers struck out 14 Braves on the night. Fun stuff.
Jason Heyward's on-base streak ended at 27 games, and I fully blame ESPN because they just had to put it on SportsCenter before the game. The only Atlanta player to record multiple hits was Omar Infante, and Alex Gonzalez struck out three times.
Oh, and former-Brave Willie Harris hit an inside-the-park HR in the 7th inning off of Kyle Farnsworth. Those are always fun.
The Padres and Giants both won, so the Braves now trail the Padres by 1/2 a game in the Wild Card. The Phillies also won, but hey, who cares about the NL East division title in Bobby Cox's final season?
Game tomorrow at 1:05. Super excited!
Go Braves.

Fun fact
Braves are 9-16 in Nationals Park since it opened in 2008.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
That's just pathetic
What’s their overall record against us since ‘08? I’m too tired to look it up, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re below .500.

Even more pathethic
Braves record vs. Nationals since 2008 – 23-29

A big reason we didn't make the playoffs last year...
(and hopefully not this year), not beating the lower end of the standings teams.
At least there's some good news...

I'm not the gloom and doom type.
I’ve been busy lately and haven’t been able to post but this month has been nothing short of bad. Who decided to steal the team’s mojo once the only important month of the regular season came around?
Stop rolling over and playing dead Braves. Wake up, you were a good team. Please remind us of it.

You didn't miss much on TC
nearly half of the newbies to the site have either been banned or warned multiple times, and a bunch of the douchebags from a Phillies site decided to be all cool and troll over here. Good times.

Ouch.
Bad month overall on here eh? We’ll despite how much I despise the Phillies, i’m pretty sure the Nats and Marlins have surpassed them. Why do they play oppossum to every team and then act like we took their first born when we play them?
The bad news is when will we start to actually worry. It’s now past the point where there are many games left and can rely on the old addage “there’s still a lot of time left!” However, I’m in for the long haul, whatever way it may end. God bless Bobby Cox and the Braves.

Aside from the obvious actions
Racism, homophobia, excessive cursing, obvious intent to pick fights and nothing else, using TC as personal venting grounds and nothing else…
But a very short leash for Phillies trolls. I’m actually amazed at how juvenile so many of them are by coming over here to gloat, and deliberately agitate the community. Seriously, the only thing worse than sore losers are sore winners.

Jason Heyward reached on an error in the 8th inning. I kind of feel that that should count for the purposes of getting on base.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t.

My favorite part of the night
Was seeing Mitch Williams, that’s right…Mitch fucking Williams, essentially accuse Huddy of choking.
I need the optimists to post something. I honestly do need to hear something positive, because this is how I see it: Unless there is a dramatic (and I mean dramatic) change, we aren’t making the playoffs. I hope I am wrong, but it really looks like this team has lost it. Someone please prove me otherwise.
We have no offense. I know, I know, Heyward is a beast and McCann is capable of doing damage, but the lineup has lost the ability to put together rallies. It happens sometimes, and it has happened to us. Omar has come back down to earth, and Prado looks injured. Back in May/June/July, Prado was automatic. We was destined for 200 hits. Now, he can do nothing right. I think he’s injured but keeping it to himself. Lee has days where he is pretty good. but he’s a shell of the Lee of old. The rest of the lineup is usually a black hole. Nate? Melky? Diaz? Ankiel? Gonzo? Not one of them is capable of putting together some consistent offense, and that’s really our problem. 1-5 in our lineup is very capable of being dangerous. 6-8 just kills us every time. The worst part is that I don’t see if changing in the next eight games. Ankiel and Melky just aren’t capable of it.
The starting pitching, that was a huge strength, has become a liability for the team. Hudson has finally hit a wall, and is not pitching well in the games that matter most. Jurrjens is done. Medlen is obviously out. KK is done. Lowe can’t be counted on. Minor is tired. Beachy is very young, and should not have too much expected of him. That leaves Hanson, who still looks very good.
I almost feel bad for Bobby, but I think his ways finally caught up to him. We never shook the lineup up, which was a bad, bad idea. He also stayed with whole lefty-righty matchups even when Ankiel looked like he need to be demoted to Rome. A big part of managing is adjusting.
Sorry this is long and negative. I’m honestly trying to see something positive (like ‘hey, we’re only 1/2 game out of the playoffs!‘), but I just don’t see anything. I honestly need the optimists to give me some hope.
Yogi always said...
It ain’t over till it’s over… And this team is all about the come from behind victory… Buck up ’lil camper!

The Braves turn it around and win today. And then they win tomorrow. And then they continue to win and win and win and win and win and win and win and win and win and win and win and win and win …
How’s that?
Baseball...
is the strangest game, and I think definitely the one most affected by luck and mentality. By no means does that discount the fact that injury and fatigue are affecting this team. The Braves are in bad stretch right now, and this is the worst of times for that to be happening. The good news? It could turn around today. We are only half a game out of the wild card. Now, some people apparently think that means we have no chance of making the playoffs. That’s about the most defeatist, lazy, lack of imagination, type of attitude ever. I guarantee the team does not have that attitude, and anyone who thinks that they do knows nothing about competition.
I leave you with this…
"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." A. Bartlett Giamatti
2003 Cardinals
They won it all, with 83 wins. All you have to do is get in, because it’s really just a crapshoot from there on.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
i didnt catch the game
But how the heck did he get an inside the park HR!?!?!?!? That’s just embarrassing.
Other than that this team is really starting to worry me. They did his same crap last year when we had a shot at the wildcard and they are doing it again. They can only blame themselves if they don’t make the post season.

Nate McLouth is a poor outfielder who is afraid of the wall. That’s how he hit an inside the park homer. And made me throw up in my mouth.
I wrote a novel, it's about baseball, you should buy it:

yesterday, i cant watch the games because of my college graduation
then when i had access to internet i watched Wagner pitching so i assumed that the Braves were winning but later i discovered that the Braves lost. It´s too disappointing.
it seems the Braves record on September is 4-25.
All these losses against Pirates and Nats count by 2 or 3.
But you won't
Because deep down inside, you think there might be hope, unless the Braves are mathematically eliminated from postseason contention.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
Oh, most definitely....
On the other hand, I have to feel that these guys are simply out of gas now….you know?
