Welcome to the Thunder Dome - 2.0
I feel like it's time for another one of these. The last time we had one, our season turned around. Maybe this one will save our season and keep us in the hunt for a World Series.
The NL East is pretty much over, but there's still the Wild Card. All we have to do is get into the playoffs. Anything can happen.
Come inside to vent, yell, scream, throw things on the internet, post .gifs that'll break 10-4's computer, etc. Just keep in mind that what you say will be seen by the mods. I don't think anyone will care tonight if a few curse words are said, but keep in mind that there are ABSOLUTELY no racial slurs or personal attacks. Basically, keep yourselves under control and you'll be fine.
This thread will be erased tomorrow, so get it out of your system tonight. It's been a frustrating past few weeks, but we should all remember that we're still in this thing.
Go Braves.

well it looks like you're just the perfect being
you can like things and not get invested in them. why can’t the rest of the world be as good as you. sorry that when some people spend 3-4 hours (and probably more when it is all said and done) a day for 162 days and countless other hours year round following a team they get invested in it. it’s called being passionate. i bet you just lay there in bed.

It is a bit ridiculous that people get upset over these things. Who gives a shit if a sports team loses? People actually get mad about this?
And while were at it… why do people actually BLOG over sports? And post comments about sports? LIKE YOU?
Tried to post this on the thread but it closed
I haven’t done anything but support this team and i STILL do. I am just trying to say that people can be upset right now (as evidenced by this thread!). Am I not allowed to be frustrated when the team that I LOVE doesn’t play well? I have never given up on this team or season. i don’t think people should be attacked for being upset. Go ahead and attack ones that say they ‘give up" or shit like that, but don’t attack me for trying to express my opinion

Just like the White Sox sweep.
This was just running into a hot team on the road at the wrong time. Sure it killed the chances of winning the NL East, but no matter what the Padres do tonight, the Braves will still have a share in first place in the Wild Card. Even if the Rockies win, they’re still going to be 2 games back with 9 to go.
I know it’s easy to forget, but please remember the Braves just swept a 3-game series before this one. That performance put them in tremendous standing for the Wild Card and allowed them some breathing room even if they got swept by Philly, which unfortunately happened. If they regroup on the off-day, come out and win 2 of 3 from the Nationals (remember, Tim Hudson and Derek Lowe are pitching this series), it’s a winning 5-4 road trip and they go back home likely still in the Wild Card lead (unless the Padres can sweep the Reds).

One down, two to go: Giants lose
The Giants just got shutout 2-0 by the Cubs. This has Wild Card implications if the Padres win.
If the Padres win, they will move back into a 0.5 game lead in the NL West. That would send the Giants back to the NL Wild Card, where they would be 0.5 back of Atlanta.

Things I would like to see next game that are simple
1) Omar Infante and Prado NOTTTT take the first pitch every single AB regardless of pitch and location
2) Our outfielders hit their cutoff man
3) When our leadoff guy gets on, move him over by either bunting or getting a hit
4) Our catcher throw the ball within 5 feet of second base on a steal attempt
4a) Our second baseman comes off the bag to catch said ball if it is slightly off the base.
Lets start with these and see how we do
JUST WIN DAMMIT!!! OUR LUCK HAS BEEN SHIT THIS WEEK!! THAT IBANEZ HIT WAS CLEARLY FOUL, BUD!! WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO EXPAND INSTANT REPLAY SO THE BRAVES AREN’T RAPED IN THE ASS BY SHITTY UMPIRING?? Whatever. Three back after being up as much as they were this season still speaks volumes about where to place blame.
I thought the ball was foul too on the replay
But ironically, I’m not outraged. It’s not the umpire’s fault Mike Minor missed a sign or Brian McCann decided to tag up on a fly ball when he clearly should not have. Not the umps fault we wasted two walks off Halladay, who never walks anyone.
Very sad.
Attention everyone. Tonight is not a total loss.
The new Harry Potter trailer was released.
Should the Braves skip Mike Minor's next start?
Mike Minor’s next start is currently scheduled for Monday, September 27, the first game of a 3-game series against the Marlins at Turner Field.
There is an off-day tomorrow.
If Bobby felt so inclined, he chould choose to skip Minor’s turn and start Hanson on Monday instead. Thanks to the off-day, Hanson would be pitching on regular 4-day rest.
This would also be the first time Minor’s faced a team that’s seen him before. Minor gave up 6 runs in 4 innings against the Marlins in Land Shark Stadium on September 5. He didn’t walk anybody and struck out 5, but he got bashed for 9 hits.
Bobby’s skipped Minor once before. Should he again?

How about our stupid fucking manager stop starting Melky and Ankiel? Haven’t they given us enough proof that they fucking suck? They make Francoeur look good. How are the Braves supposed to score runs when a third of their line up is automatic outs / double plays? Why not try Infante in the outfield and Conrad at 2B? Or maybe Hudson can play the outfield when he doesn’t pitch since he’s a better hitter than those clowns.

All games decided by 3 runs or fewer with their Big 3 vs. 2 rookies and Hanson? I’ll take it. Seriously. If we make the playoffs are we really worried about any of the NL West teams? SanFran/SanDiego can’t hit. Rockies can’t pitch (besides Jimenez). Reds are only mediocre really. I like our chances of matching up our big 3 with Philly.
If I have to explain my username to you, you're obviously a Philly fan.
"Kill my boss?! Do I dare live out the American dream?" - Homer Simpson
The Phillies deserve the division
I mean let’s be honest here, the Braves haven’t been making moves to make a run while the Phillies have. I am comfortable with this now, they are trying to win and the Braves are trying to make a profit.
They got Lee last year, spun him for Halladay this year. Then when they needed a boost, they went out and got Oswalt (for pretty cheap, just had to take on salary). Meanwhile what have the Braves done? We signed a couple guys in Hinske and Glaus off the garbage heap. They’ve outperformed their contracts but that doesn’t mean much right now. Left Field is the easiest position to stick a good hitter, and we can’t seem to do it. We traded our good, young SS because of attitude problems, and got a worse one that is skating by on reputation in return. Oh and let’s not forget our BIG MOVE at the deadline…Oh wait, there wasn’t one. Wait no, Ankiel DOES exist I guess, I just prefer not to think about it. Hmmm yes, and then the old and busted Derek Lee. If this were 3 years ago, he’d be a great addition for the stretch run. Well at least we can call up our stud young 1B for a boost. OH WAIT, we called him up a day too late for the postseason so now it’s not even worth giving him AB’s because we have to hope Lee catches fire (heh).
so evidently
2 out foul balls win you games now if your jersey says Phillies on it.
