A look at Heyward's awesomeness
Entering today’s game the J-Hey Kid’s numbers were as shown below. As a whole the .880+ OPS for a rookie in his 20 year old season is absolutely fantastic, especially considering that his numbers didn’t fall off when the league adjusted to him, in fact it was the opposite, he made the adjustments. However, the point I would like to make is to show what kind of player Heyward has been when healthy; he spent most of the month of June battling a thumb injury. I have the splits from June listed below as well.
While healthy, Jason has reached base at .430 clip and is slugging .537, which would give him an OPS of .967. The .400 OBP number is staggering, as many have mentioned before, there have only been 5 players prior to Heyward to ever have done that during their 20 year old season; 4 of them are hall of famers and the other is Alex Rodriguez. We have a very special player folks, and all signs point to him spending many seasons in the thick of the MVP race.

He's exceeded all of my expectations this year.
I’m still somewhat concerned about his groundball swing…. but he’s already one of the top 20 or so position players in the game (and he’s only 21!)
i feel like he has some mechanical things tht could be tweaked with his swing to make him more effective (which is scary considering he is pretty effective)…i also think as a 20 year old he is probably still growing into his body and more fluidity and a changed swing will come eventually.
"No. Lonely people mixing with one another? Breeding? Creating an even lonelier generation? You're not even allowing natural selection do its work. Pssh. You're like the guy who invented the seat belt."

Another thing…the groundball thing isn’t necessarily a bad thing…BABiP is much higher generally on GB than FB…and he hits the ball so damn hard it would be even more so for him. Although it certainly cuts into his ability to hit for more power.

Bench him/move him down in the lineup

I was expecting a .270, 18-22 HR and 80-90 RBI season. He is right on target at .286, 18 and 71. I do beleive his RBI total woul be higher if he was batting 3rd, 5th or 6th, but he has been quite effective in th 2 hole. Also, if not for the thumb injury, he may well have hit 25 HR and have 90 RBI already and a .300 BA
Another note
I had other stats that I did on a spread sheet, but I failed epically at getting those numbers in the post, they just showed up as gibberish.
