Atlanta Braves Postseason Pace
For the rest of the season we'll keep a daily tally of the Atlanta Braves chances of making the postseason, along with daily commentary. Also consider this a daily open thread for general chatting.
| NL East | W | L | PCT | GB | STRK | Magic Num | Playoff Odds |
| Phillies | 86 | 61 | .585 | - | W4 | 13 | 95.3% |
| Braves | 83 | 64 | .565 | 3 | L2 | 19 | 68.2% |
While we were sleeping the Braves chaser in the Wild Card actually flipped from San Francisco to San Diego. I guess in a way that's good as San Diego is going the same direction the Braves are going. I still contend that Colorado is a bigger threat in the Wild Card race than anyone else.
Time for Tommy to get a win tonight!

Do or die time.
Would love to see this team ratchet up the intensity a notch. Martin, as he has been all year, is the key to the team. He could not drive anyone in on Saturday or Sunday, and if he cannot, then the Braves cannot win. Just too many outs in the lineup once you get past B-Mac. We need a sweep, and an angry sweep.
Maybe put J-Hey in the 3 hole and let him rip? Let Omar and Martin set the table and hope for a few RBI chances.

You really think
At this point Bobby is gonna bat Heyward 3rd? He refuses to make changes at the top of the lineup

I've never tried to post a lineup
so this one may seem crazy but here goes:
1) Infante
2) McClouth
3) Prado
4) Heyward
5) Heap
6) Lee
7) Gonzalez
8) Whoever plays LF
I say put McClouth in the 2 hole because he’s been playing much better lately and with Prado being hot, he’s going to get pitches to hit because AUTOsingle will already be on base. Prado then has the best chance of getting Omar and McClouth into scoring position or even score Omar. Then the power comes in the form of Heyward, B-Mac, and Lee.

I'd prefer:
Prado > Infante > Heyward > Mac > Nate > Lee > Gonzo > LF
Prado hits a leadoff double, Infante scores him with an autosingle, Heyward either cleans up the bases or gets on base for Mac.

That good too
It was tough to put Infante over Prado but leading off innings with RISP isn’t good for us.

The Delta 6 photos gave me a lump in my throat.
I’m gonna miss Bobby, even more than I think next year.

It’s gut check time for this team. Time to man up, pull out some victories, and send Bobby off the right way. With a ring

The nail biters are not over I'm afraid...
This team has a way of surprising us (in good ways and bad) that I refuse to even try and predict what may happen over the next 2 weeks.
But, I’ll be here and watching.

You know...
The traditional time for making the rookies dress up is upon leaving for the last roadtrip of the season. It was weird this year, because they left on an off-day (maybe they left Wednesday afternoon?). Does anyone know if they did it? Lizzie Beth, where are you?

Agreed...
that was such a great set of pictures the last two years. Please oh please Lizzie, did you get them this year?

They left Wednesday night
so the team could get comfortable in NY on Thursday.

Med's is out of the lineup
But his legacy lives on in that awesome Hannah Montana bag that he personally got for Kimbrel.
Is tonight a "must win"?...
mentally as much as anything. We really need 2 of 3 from the Mets imo, just to get our heads back in a good place, let alone to help the math work (need 10 wins to make the playoffs imo).
I’d agree in not being worried about the Pads. They are at the Cardinals this weekend, then go to the Dodgers and welcome the Reds to their place before finishing with the Giants. That’s a really rough schedule to close out. The Rockies end at St. Louis, and are already 3 wins back, so I like our chances there too if we can get back to playing well.
win
It does seem like good news for the Braves that they are now leading the Padres instead of the Giants. But the Bravos actually have to win their own games for that to matter. If the Braves can’t find a way to get 4 wins against the pathetic Mets and horrible Nats, then they just don’t deserve to make the playoffs. Get it done!
Gut check time
We might have a little bit of extra breathing room with the Padres fading but the Rockies are also right there. As poorly as the Braves have played in the last two weeks, a playoff berth is still very much within grasp.
Time to stop pressing and start winning.

I Believe!!!
The Cardiac Braves just wanted us to have a little scare before the playoffs. The wins start tonight!
A sweep would be a wonderful early birthday present for me. It’s not actually until March, but it would still be a nice early present. Now that I think about it, maybe a sweep would make for a nice early Halloween present. A division title an early Christmas present, a league pennant an early Groundhog Day present, and a World Series an early birthday present.
I would settle for a nasty case of untreatable hemorrhoids for the entire Phillies lineup for the next several months.

Really? Today’s MY unbirthday, too!!!

OH MY GOODNESS
What are the chances? All of us?

the braves already losing tonoght
Had runner on second and no one out and could not bring the runner in? i don’t think they will win a game on this roadtrip.
Random suggestion
Include in this post everyday the odds of Omar’s batting title (if he still has a chance…havent looked at the numbers lately). It would at least give us something to look forward to.
