Atlanta Braves Postseason Pace
For the rest of the season we'll keep a daily tally of the Atlanta Braves chances of making the postseason, along with daily commentary. Also consider this a daily open thread for general chatting.
| NL East | W | L | PCT | GB | STRK | Magic Num | Playoff Odds |
| Phillies | 84 | 61 | .579 | - | W2 | 17 | 86.6% |
| Braves | 83 | 62 | .572 | 1 | W1 | 19 | 83.4% |
Raise your hand if you had Derek Lowe in the pool for "best start of the season." That start last night would certainly get some votes. Twelve strikeouts next to Lowe's name just looks weird.
The Phillies also won, so we don't gain a game. But someone finally beat Colorado last night to break their 10-game winning streak. They were really starting to scare me in the Wild Card hunt. Still are, actually. Here are your Wild Card standings:
It's a three-team race, and probably another race that will come down to the final series of the year. It would be nice for the Braves to get some separation here too.
Tonight's Nationals starter, Livan Hernandez, was tough against us the last time he faced us -- a month and four days ago. We ended up winning the game, but only on a walk-off single by Jay-Hey. I love the walk-offs, but let's get Livan early tonight and cruise like we did last night.

The stretch run is going to be fun...
And extremely stressful.

On the bright side...
If we come through, make the playoffs and win the WS, I foresee a lot of hair pulling of a different nature going on.

It’s rough to sit through these games and not have someone that can’t hit a Ball?
I see lots of people drinking heavily…and getting banned.

I will be following the advice of Bluto Blutarski and start drinking heavily. You guys should this advice; he’s pre-med, you know.

No, someone else is pre-law. Bluto was pre-med, which is why his advice on how to treat the human body (in this case, alcohol transfusion) was gospel.
I think Otter was pre-law, which is why they had him stand up and speak at their sham hearing in front of the Dean, Marmalard and Niedermeyer.
Yes, that's right.
Otter: Point of parliamentary procedure!
Hoover: Don’t screw around, they’re serious this time!
Otter: Take it easy, I’m pre-law.
Boon: I thought you were pre-med.
Otter: What’s the difference?
Babs took excellent notes at that hearing.

actually
might be a good idea. I have tickets to the last game and will be tailgating, so I’ll be drunk and down for meeting strangers. :) I wanna meet the dude who made rainbowllamasaurus. or at least introduced him to us.
yeah seriously
I have a 6ft tomahawk (no sexual reference) that people love to take pics with. It would make a great avatar for someone ;)

10 wins and I'd say we got the playoffs...
12 more wins, guarantees it and probably the division. But we need at least 10 more for the playoffs imo.
Definately doable
I’m not sure why, but i’m not afraid of the Phils… This team has handled them nicely this season

Yep...
won’t be easy, but certainly doable.
2 more at home with Washington, then 3 at their place
3 at the Mets, and 3 at home with Florida, and then the 6 vs. Philly, 3 home and 3 away.

I have 100% confidence in our team
It has taken the Braves playing poor baseball and Philly playing great baseball for them to be up 1 game. They won’t be able to sustain such a pace and we aren’t going to play crap baseball with McClouth and Lowe playing well.

HAhahahha don’t I feel like an ass. When we had the GC (General Conference) here in Atlanta back in the first week of June, SAC was there recruiting incoming freshmen.
What I don’t get is how Truett Cathy allows Chik-fil-A to shut down on Sunday. Jesus wouldn’t turn away a hungry soul yet everytime I want a #1 with a lemonade on Sunday I am denied.

Of course
The disturbing part is the 9-game road trip. It doesn’t matter that 2/3’s of those games are against the Mets and Florida…
It’s time to prove we can win on the road.

Just win damnit!!!
I’m sick and tried of this crap. No more one game down, one game up sh-t. Win at least 10 in a row!!!
Politicians are like diapers. They both need changing regularly and for the same reason.
Question:
For the last 6 series of the game, would you guys rather have Philadelphia’s schedule or ours? We’re playing the exact same teams for the same number of games, and we both have 9 at home and 9 away. The only real difference is that they have a 9-game homestand while we have a 9-game road trip. But, on the other hand, we get to finish off the season at home for 6 games.
I’d think I’d rather have the Braves’ schedule. I really think it’s going to come down to that final series and it’s just spectacular that it’s at home (against the best home team in baseball).
by McGriff the Crime Dog on Sep 14, 2010 12:45 PM EDT reply actions
The biggest difference...
Is that they have to play the Braves six times. I think our Braves could beat the Braves, but I don’t think Philly will be able to do it.

I wish Lowe would have told Roger earlier in the season (and last year) that he needed help. What if he turns into the same guy that dominated in the stretch run for the Dodgers in 2008? Make it happen Lowe.

Sometimes...
I just get carried away and go on the Braves ticked site to see what’s available. I checked for tickets for Sunday, Oct. 3, against the Phillies – last game – and got crazy and ordered one in the Golden Moon level. I sort of hope it’s an important game, but sort of not, as in I hope we have it won by then.
Go Braves!!!!!

and royhobbs said it was sold out.
Coming soon: winningugly visits Atlanta, takes dump in royhobbs’ Braves hat.
Plus, sddbaker said she bought just one ticket.
A lot of times when an event is close to selling out you can find one ticket, but attempting to buy two or more together you’ll be told that it’s “not available.”

Yeah...
I couldn’t find any at all for Saturday, but for Sunday I did “best available” for 1 ticket and got the Club level seat. I actually then checked for cheaper tickets by choosing Upper Box, which I like, but there were none available. I didn’t try any other categories, because I like the idea of the club level in case of rain or if it’s hot, since it’s a day game.

I have some for that game also. They will refund if the game isn’t played.
I had tickets for Game 7 of the 1995 World Series at the Ted. Of course, we won in 6. I had to send back the actual tickets for the refund, which made me mad, because they were beautiful — big 4X6 cardboard collector’s items.
