Thou shalt never bring thy closer into a tie game on the road, regardless of the leverage of the situation, and regardless of whether Jesse Chavez has just walked the bases loaded without recording an out in extra innings.

Thou shalt occasionally bring thy closer into tie games at home.

Thou shalt not consider whether the two last-mentioned commandments make any goddamn sense in relation to one another.

by EricGreggWasPaidOff on Sep 11, 2010 6:54 PM EDT up reply actions

I don't know why that is necessarily true

Freeman may well be the guy who hits for a better average while Heyward has more pure power. Or perhaps we’ll realize that that #4 spot is more important that the #3 spot in the batting order.

I think a lot of the idea that Freeman is going to bat clean-up is based entirely on his role as a firstbaseman, and people are just used to first basemen batting fourth.
