For the rest of the season we'll keep a daily tally of the Atlanta Braves chances of making the post season, along with daily commentary. Also consider this a daily open thread for general chatting.
| NL East | W | L | PCT | GB | STRK | Magic Num | Playoff Odds |
| Phillies | 81 | 60 | .574 | - | W3 | 22 | 78.3% |
| Braves | 80 | 61 | .567 | 1 | L1 | 23 | 78.9% |
I guess last night was the night to get all the pitchers some work and get everyone into the game ... except J.C. Boscan. We've had two blowout games in a row, perfect opportunities to get Boscan in the game, but yet it's been Ross who spells McCann. Look, I'm not saying he's a good catcher or anything, but I at least root for the guy to get into a game. Otherwise why did we call him up?
Anyway, that's a small insignificant side story to the larger failure. If you just watched the first inning of last night's game, you might have thought that the Braves would be cruising to a victory, but then the wheels fell off for Jurrjens, and we got our buts kicked. I, like many of you, turned on some football. Sad to say.
It won't get much easier tonight when the Birds have Carpenter on the mound, and we have Mike Minor. We need Minor's best start today, not only to help us win, but to help us save the bullpen a bit.
