Frenchy traded to the Rangers for IF
Frenchy once again is being moved. The Mets receive infielder Joaquin Arias. Its quite possible if Cliff Lee gets his act together the Braves could be meeting Frenchy and the Rangers in the World Series. I still secretly pull for him, but definitely not against the Braves. What are your thoughts about Frenchy getting moved to a playoff team? He is probably going out with the boys in the ATL one last time. Go Braves!

He said he wants to start but I doubt going to Texas is going to get him that. He’ll probably be a role player and defensive replacement for them.
Exactly. Hamilton and Cruz are going nowhere, and Frenchy doesn’t have the D to displace Borbon or Murphy in center. Straight up depth move for Texas, and a sign that the Mets were so giddy to be rid of him that his request to go somewhere he could start didn’t mean squat to them. He’ll be a fifth outfielder at best.
Side note- Arias is being sent to the Mets after being displaced by former Met Alex Cora. So probably not any sort of upgrade for New York, furthering the belief they probably just wanted to wash their hands of Francoeur in any way necessary.
wish him well

I posted this on the other Franchy trade thread, so pardon me quoting myself"
Not sure which says more about the current state of the Mets: that Frenchy was their clean-up hitter tonight or that they saw fit to trade their clean-up hitter with just over a month remaining in the season.
[Mets] GM Omar Minaya confirmed to Andy Martino of the New York Daily News that the Mets aren't going to fire any coaches today. July 26, 2010.

He will be selling used cars in Atlanta in 2 years.

When we traded him to the Mets, I said he would be out of baseball in about 2 years.
He has gone from franchise cornerstone to washed up journeyman in just a couple of seasons. My only question is how low can he go?

Depends on if he's willing to be a role/part time player...
if not, he doesn’t have much left. If he’ll embrace a lesser than full time starting role, he can last a while. Problem is French doesn’t seem willing to accept such a gig (even though it means he’s making 7 figures).
Did you see his quote about the Mets doing him a favor by trading him? He said “I could be thankful for the rest of my life” or something like that.

Platoon
If he ever gets over himself, then he can have a decent career as a platoon player. He actually posts decent numbers still against lefties.
Except Johnny Venters. :-)
See Frenchy’s at-bat against Venters on Tuesday night? Ugly. Then again, Johnny makes even most ML batters look bad.

how are the mighty fallen...
O what a fall was there
I lost all respect for him
After he started bitching about playing time with a sub .300 OBP. His comment about Heyward didn’t earn him any points in my book either.
